When we received the email about collaborating with ShopStyle x CFDA designers for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, it was a no brainer. Rebecca and I jumped on board so fast and are so excited to be donating a portion of our profits this week to something that is so dear to us. This cause is so important to Rebecca and I so throughout this post you will hear us both talking in the first person explaining why.
I lost my Aunt to breast cancer a few years ago. She was the person who gave me my first fashion magazine, my always-take-so-long getting ready habits, and gladly fueled my shopping obsession. Whenever she came to visit from whichever big city she was living in at the time, I would always get a new magazine to dive into and the luxury of her makeup samples. Yes, at this time when Richmond was Nordstroms and Saks -less and online shopping was not a thing, I treasured these free gift beauty products. On the days I didn’t have school, I would wait outside the bathroom waiting for her to say I could come in and watch her put on her makeup – asking her a million questions. She is one of the strongest women I knew and I still thank my lucky stars I got to be her niece. All of that being said, she had a ginormous impact on my life and is the inspiration behind starting The Crystal Press.
(From Reb) One of the most important things that I have learned since starting TCP is how important it is to have a good support system surrounding everything we do. We are so lucky that there are two of us along on this adventure to continue to support and encourage one another day after day. That is one of the reasons I’m so glad to be a part of this ShopStyle Collective x CFDA campaign to support Fashion Targets Breast Cancer® (FTBC).- to continue to spread love and support to others in this industry and beyond.
On top of Cath’s inspiration for starting the blog, with this cause so dear to her heart, I have recently been impacted by Breast Cancer, in a different way. A sorority sister of mine was recently diagnosed and it wasn’t just a wake-up call but also the realization that something so terrible can happen to the best people, young and old. The vast outpouring of support to help her fight cancer has been nothing short of amazing, and it is humbling to be even a small part of her her fight.
We are so very glad to donate 10% of the profits from our blog this week (October 17-23rd) to FTBC, in partnership with POPSUGAR Inc, and continue to raise awareness to a disease the impacts way too many.
