I know I need a mental reset when I find myself in the habit of getting out of bed 5 minutes before I need to be out the door in the morning. On these kinds of mornings, I haphazardly hop out of bed anything but gracefully and (somehow) wash my face, brush my teeth, throw on an outfit, and carry my makeup bag out the door in a matter of minutes. In these instances, saying that I start my day flustered would be the understatement of the century.
Whenever I begin the day rushed, I go through my schedule discombobulated aka reacting to situations instead of intentionally bringing energy to the day. * Note to self: this kind of energy exhaustion can’t be fixed by hitting the snooze button 20x despite my train of thought while laying in bed in the morning* The best way to energize my day is to get up earlier and have some me-time in the morning sans screens and discombobulation. When I wake up and start my day intentionally, I bring my best self forward and I’m more productive throughout the day.
Before I get into my ideal morning, let me just say this (brief) sleeping in habit hasn’t been all bad. I am not advocating it – but In my laziness, I discovered that this ASOS top will take any outfit 0 to 100, real quick…. like when-you-have-5-minutes-to-get-ready quick. Throw it on with a pair of jeans and you can be out the door without anyone knowing that you actually got ready freakishly fast after hitting the snooze button 20x.
Okay, back to our regular scheduled program: intentional mornings. Personally, my best days are the ones that begin with a workout, a 20 minute guided meditation, journaling, and a good meal. There is no comparison between a day that starts out haphazardly and a day that starts intentionally for this gal. What makes your day one of the best? I’d love to hear from you guys because I’m always looking for ways to improve my morning routine!
