IT’S A GIRL <3

Even though we have known the gender since December, I knew I wanted to do a studio photo shoot to commemorate and to, of course, share online.

Because we chose to do the genetic testing on our embryo, the lab was able to tell the gender before it was implanted. We asked our IVF doctor to get the results for us and put them in an envelope that we could share with someone once we figured out how we wanted to do the “reveal” to ourselves. My birthday is the day after Christmas and we decided this would be the perfect chance to find out. So we had a delicious bakery in Charlotte, Suarez bakery, make my birthday / gender reveal cake to cut together on my birthday in Highlands with my parents and best friend.

See the video here of us finding out we are having a baby girl. I was ELATED. I had a gut feeling I was carrying a girl and even referred to her as “she” but would have been thrilled either way. Or so I thought, lol. I think my scream in the video tells you that deep down, I really wanted a baby girl.

We chose to do our pregnancy announcement on the good old iPhone, during our trip to Steamboat, knowing that I wanted to have these gender photos done with Halle of Wild Heart Creative at Focal Point Studio. Shooting in the studio makes outfit changes and just the whole thing easier – since you don’t have to worry about the weather.

I was so overwhelmed on the day of, that we just kinda went through the motions and outfit changes, and I wish I had thought a little more about our posing, lol. But, of course, Halle did an amazing job and we will cherish these photos ALWAYS. I’m thinking something whimsical and outside for our later stage maternity photos as a contrast and already looking forward to those, too.

When I saw this sequin Lovers and Friends jumpsuit on REVOLVE, I knew I had to have it for this shoot. It is perfectly rose gold and will *hopefully* still fit me for a spring wedding in a few months! It would seriously be perfect for any formal events this spring. Such a great piece.

All I really wanted from this shoot was some photos that we would remind us of a day when we had a blast in the studio with Halle & Catherine and I think we nailed it. We will for sure tell baby girl about the photo mishap that happened when we popped the balloon to get the confetti shot.
