I have to admit that when it comes to choosing dresses for any occasion, I tend to gravitate towards simple, neutral pieces. It gives me room to add my personality with shoes and accessories, but sometimes even I surprise myself! When I was looking for dresses to bring to The Homestead to celebrate John’s birthday, I scoured my favorite go-to sites like ASOS and Free People for the perfect option. My closet is full of black sheaths, maxis and slip dresses but I am admittedly tired of those for the time being! I found this lilac dalmation printed dress on ASOS, and I can’t really pinpoint why it struck my eye, but I felt so feminine and flowyyyy dancing through the halls of my favorite resort all night (and the next day!)
For those of you who feel like your dress selection is getting a little tired, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite feminine maxi dresses. The great thing about these is that they can be worn during any season! You can layer with blazers and sweaters during the winter, or throw on a pair of sandals with them during the warmer months. Think spring weddings, parties or date night. Even better? They’re all under $200.
On the same note as Catherine’s last post about luxury tees, I recently decided to splurge on a white pair of Gucci loafers. My black pair have been worn and worn and worn countless times over the past two years, so I knew that they are worth the investment. If I added up all of the money I have wasted on frivolous pieces over the past year, it is almost embarrassing. It is so easy to get caught up in fast fashion, and how affordable these pieces can be but when it comes down to it, the pieces don’t stand the test of time, no matter how tempting the price tags can be.
