I have honestly been wondering for years if SKIMS are worth the hype. Everything the Kardashians do seems to turn to gold and make gazillions. While I might not be a huge fan of the fam or *keep up with the kardashians* on TV, I gotta admit, they are doing something right to have such a mega empire.
SO, I tried out 6 pieces from their cotton collection, because I figured those would be most comfortable to me right now in my 8 months pregnant body. Hardly anything is comfortable these days so trust me when I say, this was a true test.
Let’s start this one out by saying, going into this shoot I was kicking myself for not scheduling our maternity photos sooner. I was 35 weeks when we took these, and I really wish I had scheduled them around 30 weeks. At 30 weeks I felt better and, in my opinion, looked better. Cute bump and not all the swelling. Luckily for me, Johnny assured me that I looked great so I decided to just embrace the hot, sweaty, pregnant bod for the photos.
SO, LET’S TALK OUTFITS.
ACTUALLY… FIRST: DECIDE ON LOCATION + VIBE.
Naturally, I had a hard time deciding on a location and a vibe, so I decided to do more than one location and not two but three different vibes. We went with Romantic/Ethereal, Street Style & Sleek/Sexy. I started out with one big long blog post for all three looks but it was going to be INTENSE so I decided to create three different posts. Here you’ll find my tips for a sleek and sexy shoot. For the others, click through below to find a full post on the vibe you are looking for.

Actually… first: decide on location + vibe.
Naturally, I had a hard time deciding on a location and a vibe, so I decided to do more than one location and not two but three different *vibes.* We went with Romantic/Ethereal, Street Style & Sleek/Sexy. I started out with one big long blog post for all three looks but it was going to be INTENSE so I decided to create three different posts. Here you’ll find my tips for an ethereal / romantic shoot. We only have one additional room in our house aside from our bedroom (and the open living spaces), so the only real option was to turn the guest room into the nursery. (see the *before* here). I always thought I would be a neutral nursery kind of gal. Whether it was a boy or a girl, I envisioned something gender neutral with light pops of color *maybe.* However, once I became a *girl mom* all of a sudden I wanted girly things. So, anyway, without further introduction: here are the deets on how the room turned out and how we got there.
CHOOSING A THEME /COLOR SCHEME
When choosing a theme and color scheme, I suggest having a *light* idea of how you want the room to turn out, and to be flexible as you go. Choose a few colors as your base and go from there. Or choose a theme and let that be your base.
I probably asked three different times on instagram stories for people’s favorite registry items! Knowing every baby is different and every mom has different preferences, I just wanted to use it as a base for my list of “must-haves” and ultimate “wish-list” items. People are very passionate about their favorite things and there were a few items that lots and lots of my mom friends suggested. I am sure once baby girl is here we will develop our favorites, but for anyone else planning their registry, here are a few suggestions!
When I again polled my instagram friends about which baby monitor they recommended, the overwhelming response was Nanit! Like, almost every single person who responded. And not just a brief mention, but an enthusiastic response with lots of DMs and reassurances that Nanit is the best. This smart baby monitor gives parents peace of mind, eases anxiety and stress while keeping you updated on your baby’s sleep and well being. 94% of parents say they sleep better while using Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor! That is about all I needed to know to know it was the one for us and so far, setting it up and setting up the app already have me feeling a little more comfortable about our baby girl.
3 Styling Tips That Will Take Your Family Photos from Bland to Glam
With the limitless options for shopping at any given moment thanks to the internet, it is easy to experience indecisiveness when choosing an outfit for any occasion: especially outfits for family photos…when you are responsible for styling more than ONE outfit. I think experts call this “decision fatigue.” Kevin, Phoenix, and I hadn’t had professional family photos since baby Phoenix was 1 day old in St. Francis Hospital (wanna shift gears from styling family photos to my birth story? Here ya go!) and I wore my fave Sleeper Pajamas with feathers because duh. **
Fast forward 2 years and we finally made it a priority. (Phew! These things weigh on you, am I right? Why do we put things off when the results are so rewarding?)
Dressing during pregnancy is not easy. No matter what. At the beginning, you can just size up and everything pretty much works. But, the farther along you get, it is clear that there is a reason why maternity clothes exist. Sometimes sizing up makes clothes fit weird in all the wrong places and you need something made specifically for your pregnant bod.
The kicker about stylish maternity clothes, though, is they tend to be a little pricier, but to me it is worth it. If you get a few closet staples that make it just a little easier to get dressed each day, it makes all the difference. Here are my favorite brands that make quality maternity clothes that will make you feel good in your *strange* changing, miraculous body.
Pink Blush has a hugeeee selection of dresses for all pregnancy occasions, stages and events. I have gotten some seriously fun pieces from here during this pregnancy and the great thing is, I can keep wearing them once baby girl comes! They are adding new styles and colors to their site almost daily, so you always have a great selection to choose from. Use code REBECCAPIERSOL25 to save when you shop at Pink Blush. (more…)
I have been seeing these Abercrombie dresses floating around on my friends on instagram and was dying to know if they worked on a bump. After doing a real quick search to see if anyone had shared them on a pregnant bod, I didn’t find anything! SO, I ordered 5 that I had my eyes on so that my pregnant friends & followers could see how they look.
I 1000% endorse all of these to you guys, bump or no bump. Abercrombie has really stepped up their game and the quality matches the prices. All are definitely worth it if you ask me. Looking forward to getting a lot of wear out of these this summer. Which is your favorite?!
This dress is ALLLLL over the ‘gram and high on the list of influencer favorites. I was dying to try it. I was pleasantly surprised!! It has built in shorts, comes in a bunch of different colors and is super comfortable. I can see myself wearing it running errands and throwing it on to run out of the house during the summer. I ordered the Medium Tall for a little extra length because of the bump. (more…)
here are some of the products and things I have been loving in my second trimester
TIME IS FLYING BY AND I FEEL LIKE A BROKEN RECORD SAYING THAT, BUT IT IS TRUE! I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M HALFWAY THROUGH THE SECOND TRIMESTER.
Yesterday was 21 weeks (baby is the size of banana blah blah blah) and luckily I am feeling great. I truly have nothing to complain about. Sure, I am exhausted and seriously emotional, but considering everything I went through to get here, I feel A-OK. My body is changing daily and I have to be sure to listen to it closely and take care of myself mentally and physically. It can be reallyyyyyyyy easy to get wrapped up in my stress and anxiety but I am trying my best not to and that’s all I can do! One day at a time. One day at a time.
SO, let’s get to it. Let’s talk about some products and tings that have been a huge help during this trimester!
