SPRING IS HERE!!!!!
Here in the great state of VA, it feels like Spring gets skipped over year after year. One day it is 40 degrees and the snow is melting, and the next week its in the 80s. Luckily, this year, we have actually been experiencing spring in all its glory. {Of course, suffering through the pollen too, but that’s another story} We have had our fair share of spring showers, but we also have had beautiful days in the 60s and 70s.
This post first appeared on rebeccapiersol.me a month ago, but is even more relevant today than it was then!
I love sharing all of my quirky, fun, dressed up, and staged looks for you guys on here and over on my own site. It gives me a space to be creative with my outfits and show y’all all sorts of fun possibilities. However, I noticed that I shy away from sharing things that I actually wear on a daily basis. Sure I’ve shared plenty of my favorite sweaters, jeans and other classic staples with you but this is different! If you follow me on IG or tiktok, you’ve probably seen a slew of my everyday looks and I think that this one is the most everyday of them all.
WE DID IT AGAIN! We showed up to shoot and when we went to get changed, we came out of the bathroom stalls to see that we were both rocking feather accent pieces. I was wearing a pair of dark green jeans with button & feather hem detail and Cath had the cooooolest piece on. We couldn’t help but laugh at ourselves, again. It has really just become expected at this point for us to be matching, twinning or coordinating in some sort of way – but with our own personal style twists. This weekend was no exception!
Some tips that we are using to keep our mind and body right as we enter the new year! Some are probably new to you and some are pretty obvious, but you never know when you might need a reminder xx
EDIT: we wrote this at the beginning of 2020 and little did we know how much we would REALLY need these tips this year.
1.Listen to Kelly Howell’s The Secret Universal Mind Meditation Catherine wrote a pretty great blog post over on Cathclaire a while back on why you should listen to this life changing sleep meditation, but here I am to remind you that IT WORKS. Like she said, I can always tell the difference when I fall asleep listening to Kelly for days on end and when I don’t. The brain sync technology actually works and if you are like me and are pretty worthless at meditation : this is for you. All you have to do is listen, and seriously, you can simply fall asleep! I bought it on iTunes so I could have access to it anywhere and everywhere, but it’s also available for free on YouTube. Do yourself a favor and listen tonight as you fall asleep.
2. Keep an organized calendar If you are as busy as we are, juggling multiple jobs, events, friends and family this is an absolute must. Personally, I have a Google calendar where EVERYTHING lives: a synced calendar with Johnny, a TCP calendar, daily and weekly reminders and I create an event for everything so I don’t forget. If you prefer a fancy app, or like to keep a hard copy planner with you, then do that! If you keep your schedule organized, I have found that great piece of mind comes with it.
You guys already know that we are no strangers to twinning. Over the years, from trips to fashion week and simply walking the streets of RVA, we have been known to do a little twinning. { You can even find us twinning over on Google Local Guides. } This is definitely not the first time we have shown up to a shoot, totally twinning, totally unplanned. Very fitting in this instance that we’d both be wearing the black Gucci tights.
OKAY Y’ALL. I FINALLY HAVE THE SPANX LEGGINGS & THEY ARE MAGICAL. they are currently on the Nordstrom Sale, too.
For years, I have watched every fashion blogger & friend I know raving about the Spanx faux leather leggings, but I never took the plunge. $98 for leggings? They couldn’t be that great. However, I was sorely mistaken!! I actually snagged them on the Nordstrom Black Friday sale for my sister, but even then I didn’t think about getting them for myself. I thought I already had enough leggings. Wrong.
If you follow along with us on Instagram, this sweater is NOT new to you! I have been talking about this cozy piece from Urban Outfitters all season long and now it is on sale for $24. Urban is running their Almost Black Friday 40% off sale and you should run, not walk! This is the perfect time to stock up on some holiday gifts for everyone on your list. They’ve got some great pieces for men, women and plenty of home options too.
If you’ve been a blogger as long as we have, you are a huge fan of one of the OG blog queens, Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific. She was one of the first on the scene to really hit it big, and she has a unique style that she has carried through the years. I will never forget when Catherine & I spent an entire evening at a table next to her at one of the bars in the Nomad Hotel, and tried our best to keep our composure even though we were starstruck. It is so inspiring to us, as girls who have been at this for 5+ years now, to see how successful women have navigated this difficult, complicated world. Blair, if for some crazy reason you are reading this, HI!!
When I launched my pregnancy announcement, you guys were almost as excited about my outfit as you were about the pregnancy news! I am not going to lie, I loved the excitement. TBH, I put a lot of thought into this look – mostly because, well, I’ve never been pregnant before so it was quite the challenge to dress my beer belly. I mean, baby bump.
I love the tulle trend that has been rampant in the fashion world ever since Kendall Jenner stepped out in a beautifully dramatic pink tulle gown in Cannes in May. This dress was absolutely magical and was apart of designer Giambattista Valli’s couture collaboration with HM. Of course the collection (recently) sold out in minutes but you can check out the amazing dress aka work of art here, it’s jaw dropping!
When I was planning my pregnancy announcement, the gown Kendall wore wasn’t available yet. So I went to the next best thing, you guessed it, ASOS. After some deep searching within the ASOS dresses category, I discovered Flounce London. They have several tulle dress styles available for purchase and I chose the A Line tulle one because I knew that style would be a safe bet for my little baby bump. What better way to come out with your pregnancy news than with a little drama? If you want to keep your announcement more low key, I still recommend an A Line dress. They are super flattering and comfy in photos for this special occasion!
I don’t know why I am spending all of this time talking about my tulle dress when I think you guys went way more crazy over the boots. These boots make quite the statement and juxtapose the tulle perfectly. What are they? Jeffrey Campbell. I am going to be honest, they aren’t the easiest pair of shoes to walk in but boy do they pack a punch for any outfit. If you are looking for a shoe to level up any outfit, look no further than these boots!
I hope this post lives up to the hype and questions about my pregnancy announcement look. Thank you, thank you for all of your kind words about this exciting news! XO, Cathclaire
Cardigans & Pullover Sweaters, Knee High Boots & Combat Boots. A Blonde & a Brunette.
As you guys know, Catherine and I have a tendency to show up “matching” or rather, more accurately, coordinating, whenever we get together to shoot. We certainly each have our own styles but generally agree on our aesthetic { black & white, neutral, with a certain je ne sais quoi flair }.
