The Perfect Fall Transition Piece: RAILS

Well guys, I say this every year but how the heck is it already the end of summer! Where did the time go?  Between an absolutely crazy spring of weddings on weddings then kicking off summer with my sister’s wedding, I thought once that was all over it was going to be the one summer to go by slowly, savoring each moment.  Boyyyy was I wrong.  What did I even do all summer? Sure, there were Busch Gardens trips and plenty of pool days but seriously, what happened! Now it is almost fall, John went back to school today and I have a laundry list of things to do around the house, for ze blog and of course preparing for NYFW.  Sheeesh, not enough hours in the day, I’m telling you.  (more…)

How to Dress Your Slip Dress Down

I got this satin slip dress with a wedding in mind.

While I ended up going with another option – I had to make use of this slip! I don’t have any occasions for this dress on the books so I wanted to incorporate it into my casual attire by dressing it down. I love to wear this shade of yellow and I am a sucker for a wallet friendly dress at Forever 21, but I was having a hard time styling this dress for an everyday occasion around Richmond. Basically, it took me a beat to figure out how I wanted to dress this slip dress down for a casual summer day.

I usually wear this Girl Power shirt (seen partially in this outfit lol) to work out in or when I am going for the athleisure look, but I really like it with this dress. It is the perfect contrast to this satin slip dress and I also like how you can’t see the entire t-shirts slogan. It’s a little secret between me and the Universe. Oh, and you.

She Wears a White ASOS Dress

I love you summer, I really really do. However when it is peak summertime in RVA, the stifling temperatures can make getting dressed a little daunting/sweaty. There is nothing I like more than an effortless t-shirt dress when it is super hot out. I especially love this one from ASOS because of the tie detailing on the shoulders! What did you guys do (and wear) this weekend? I hope everyone stayed cool! Check out pieces from the outfit I’m wearing below:

Cold Shoulder Little Black “Dress”

On any given day, I am likely to experience the short-torso struggle at least once.  From barely being able to see over the steering wheel in my husbands car, to the serious struggle of finding a one-piece that fits, the struggle is real for Reb over here. When I picked out this
“top” in my first Le Tote, I had planned on pairing it with a nice pair of flare jeans, but to my surprise (well, kind of surprise) upon trying it on, it was clearly long enough on me to be a dress.  Sure, its a taaaaad short, but who doesn’t like rocking a baby doll dress every now and again?  (more…)

One Teaspoon Frankie’s + My Favorite Jean Shorts for Summer

one teaspoon frankie jean shorts summer

I, cathclaire, am very proud to present you with my favorite pair of jean shorts for summer and what my husband likes to calls “droopy drawers.” (I should probably be embarrassed to write this on The Crystal Press….?) Needless to say, he isn’t the biggest fan of these One Teaspoon Drop Crotch Frankie shorts, but despite the borderline weird name –  I cannot help wearing them all the time. It’s like they are my soul mate in jean shorts from that make me feel like a BA.*  I love the cut on the sides of each leg, the exaggerated frayed hem, and – if I am being perfectly honest – the drop crotch makes them the most comfortable jean shorts I own.

While I would like to think that I am the only person in the universe who loves these shorts, sadly, they are sold out. (and they went QUICK!) That being said, I have spent some time rounding up some shorts (that are some of my favorites) for you guys that are similar if you want to try out the distressed Bermuda short look this summer!

PS – I found a One Teaspoon white version on Nordstroms rack for uber cheap. Check em out here.

**** badass

I added several styles of stilettos that I think balance out the long shorts perfectly for you guys into the roundup above! Think embellishments + girly details to juxtapose the droopy drawers thing. (more…)

Helena Quinn Floral Robe

Every quarter I get The Zoe Report Box of Style and like to incorporate it into my OOTDs, as you may have noticed if you are a long time TCP supporter. This past spring I fell behind and only ended up showcasing the earrings, but alas, what can ya do?  that being said, I have got to say that this summer box is my favorite to date! I loved last summer’s with the Michael Stars caftan, but this one really takes the cake! This Helena Quinn robe + Raen sunnies are just too fabulous for words – so I’ll let the outfit do the talking! I am in no way sponsored by The Zoe Report (although I would welcome that, of course); I just seriously think this product is one of the best subscription boxes out there! At only $100 it contains $400 worth of stuff and this one was seriously fantastic.   (more…)

California Cathclaire

After a little blogging break, I am happy to say I am back and married and throwing OOTD’s your way today!

How do you guys feel about the embroidered denim jacket trend? I am into it in a big way and of course could not turn down this California embroidered jean jacket from one of my favorite spots: Forever 21.

This jacket just sold out today so I have linked some other jean jackets that I have my eye on and the other pieces in my outfit! Hope everyone is enjoying their week so far and that you didn’t miss cathclaire too much! xo

The Perfect LBD for Spring

urban outfitters spring

Right now, I am not the kinda gal who likes to jump into Spring with lots of prints and bright colors and if you have been following along with our TCP journey, I’m sure you’ve seen my tendency to lean towards darker hues regardless of the season. Rebecca and I have partnered with Urban Outfitters to share with you some of our favorite pieces for the new season! *Stay tuned for hers next!*
