It’s no secret that I have been wearing these polka dot culottes on repeat. I wore them for John and my trip to Blenheim and have pretty much been wearing them a couple times a week since. If you follow me on insta-stories you definitely have seen these quite a few times. There is no shame in outfit / piece repeating, folks, especially when you find something that you really like! So this outfit is a little bit of a remix from that Blenheim look, and the look that I wore when John and I went to see RENT a couple of weeks ago.
Ever since planning my wedding last year (see the wedding photos here), it is as if stripes have taken over my life. From decorating our home with stripes (a big carpet, accent pillows, you name it) to wearing them every chance I get here on The Crystal Press, I have stripe fever and this Revolve House of Harlow dress is no exception. I love a summer dress that is breathable with lots of movement for those extra hot days that getting dressed is unfathomable. Throw on a pair of statement earrings and your favorite hat (okay, maybe the hat thing is just me..) and you have an outfit in no-time. Whether you are packing for a summer vacation or brunching in Richmond with friends – summer dresses are stylish and getting ready time-savers to get you out the door sooner rather than later 🙂

John and I have been wine club members at Blenheim for years now. Actually, I may have even been a wine club member before we met, so that means I’m going on 5 years now, and wow, the progress I’ve seen throughout the years is amazing. From my first late fall trip to the winery, it was love at first site. Upon entering the tasting room with the vast ceilings and wooden beams, I felt right at home! Then I tasted the wine, and the rest is history.
Looking for a way to style your favorite hat? A blogpost on how to style a red hat is on The Crystal Press for you hat lovers!
If it seems like I have had a hat attached to my head since last summer, it is because I have. Ever since my fateful trip to Las Vegas, it is as if I can’t leave the house without a hat on or without a hat in hand “just-in-case.” If I am being completely honest, there is one black French Connection Hat that I have been wearing NONSTOP and I’m sure you guys have noticed. My husband is constantly scoffing at it, telling me that I need to take a lint roller to it – just about every time I wear it.I DO CLEAN IT but I wear it so often, that it is almost impossible to keep it lint-free no matter what I do.
WELP, just as I suspected, we completely skipped spring here in RVA, folks. We went from 50/60 degree days to a sweltering 90 in a matter of days. Virginia weather is always so unpredicatable! ANYWHO. John and I have been doing some major work around our house, and I have discovered a new obsession for plants. A few weekends ago, we went to Lowe’s to get some hanging ferns for the front porch, and ended up going back later that day to work on our potted plant game. So far, my roses are blooming beautifully, but the hydrangeas are looking TRAGIC. I think I’ve got a lot to learn.
Craving a quick and easy beach getaway from Richmond, Va that won’t involve a long flight? Look no further than the Four Seasons Miami. A quick flight to Fort Lauderdale and an uber ride will get you there in no time from Richmond!
If you saw my Instagram post on cathclaire the other day, you know that I had a serious Rebecca Bloomwood (from the Shopaholic series) moment the other day with these black and white plisse culottes. I put yet another pair of these pants from ASOS into my online shopping cart, not because the pair I already own were ruined, but because I miss them when they are getting cleaned! If that isn’t an indication of how much I love or how I wear these, then I don’t know what is.
I love these culottes and I have rocked them with nearly everything in my closet. From sweaters and adidas sneakers (see the blogpost here) to this cropped black top and Jeffrey Campbell heels, the options are truly endless with these black and white beauties! I loved that I could repurpose them for this birthday trip to Miami with my hubby. I wore this outfit on our second night there to the Miami Heat playoff game. I am in no way sporty spice but MAN did I have a great time at this basketball game. I have decided that it is my favorite live sport to watch.
If you are looking for a quick beach trip to take, I highly recommend traveling to Miami for a long weekend. I know I don’t have to tell you which hotel I recommend because you already know 🙂
Because we’ve all had that day where the only solution is pizza.
HAPPY MONDAY!!! I am feeling uncharacteristically refreshed after a fabuloussss weekend. Friday Dinner at Laura Lee’s for Richmond Restaurant Week; Saturday we saw RENT! and yesterday John and I spent the day doing some spring cleaning and yard work and it was surprisingly fun! I am especially proud of my front steps flower pots. (more…)
*I told you guys I would be wearing this jacket non-stop*
Most of you guys know that my husband John is a high school English teacher, so each year I look forward to Spring Break! Last year, we took a road trip through the south and hit Gatlinburg, Nashville, Memphis and Oxford and it was so much fun. And so much driving. This year we decided to go visit some friends in Atlanta and then I would take John to Athens, home of UGA, where I spent my first year of college. MUCH more to come about Athens, but here’s one of my looks from our trip.
It was true love at first sight when I was perusing ASOS, looking for the perfect denim jacket. I immediately added it to my cart, without even looking at the price. Then, I cringed a little when I saw it was ~$200, then realized it was Tommy and thought, well it’s probably going to be worth it. So I ordered it and decided to take it for a little spin and see if I just couldn’t live without it.
The Crystal Press has new denim for your wardrobe this spring: Evidnt Los Angeles
There will never be a season where denim isn’t on our minds. Whether it be the perfect pair of skinnies for every occasion (this striped number is still on rotation) or the denim skirt that can go from a Spring day to night effortlessly, there is no denying that denim is a major wardrobe powerhouse. That being said, you can find denim pieces at just about any price point but discovering the cuts and designs that suit your taste and style can be a challenge. This, my friends, is something that is my everyday challenge and I am so excited to share with you that I have found another denim brand that I love: Evidnt Los Angeles.
I have had back to back success with Evidnt online shopping orders. First I loved this black pair of their wide leg jeans and then, I had mega success with this uneven hemmed skirt I’m wearing in this blogpost. I love the asymmetrical hem and the strategic frayed edge that adds just enough flare to any outfit. I especially like that Evidnt’s price point is affordable around the one hundred dollar mark and under. You can’t go wrong with the casual yet modern look of Evidnt’s laid back California designs. See for yourself – you can shop Evidnt Los Angeles at Anthropologie, Nordstrom, and ASOS.
(and hurry because there are a lot of pieces on sale beauties!)
