As I stepped out of the airport last night at 10pm into the pouring rain, it felt surreal that simply 10 hours before I had been basking in the sun in the Dominican Republic. But alas, isn’t that how it always feels when you come back from vacation? It’s like “duh duh duhnnnnnn” was playing in the background as our return soundtrack. The rain was just an added bummer on top of the vacation return blues!

Affordable Fashion: The Red Trend
Looking for affordable fashion options? Todays post is for you!
When it comes to fashion, we will be the first ones here at The Crystal Press to say that affordable fashion ALWAYS put a smile on our face. Don’t get me wrong, we love to find ways to get fashionable investment pieces – but that option is not always in the cards for Rebecca and I. That being said, affordable fashion has become something we have gotten really good at during our time fashion blogging on TCP and we are excited to share our knowledge with you in the name of the pop of red trend!
Have you noticed the red trend craze or is that just us? From Rebecca’s lookbook outfit post here with red earrings to these looks I have pulled up for this fashion trend focus post – red seems to be all around us! I have gathered up some great pieces, from accessories to clothing, that will add the perfect amount of red into your wardrobe without requiring too much effort or breaking the bank here:

Mixing Textures: Leather, Velvet & Lace
When you find the perfect velvet + lace slip dress on sale at Zara, and find these kickass boots on sale too – well, that’s a great day. I hit the end of winter Zara sale pretttttty hard a few weeks ago and am stoked about my finds! Lately, as Cath and I have been trying to keep things interesting here on TCP, I’ve been really into stepping out of the box and trying new looks that I may not feel 100% comfortable with. This mixed textures look was one definitely of them!
Transitioning Winter Wardrobe in Spring Weather with The Crystal Press
These sixty degree weather days are popping up more and more as Spring tries to make its way into our life and it’s AMAZING. When I was flying back from Santa Fe, NM last week, I checked what the weather would be when I landed in Richmond and happened to notice that it was warmer than Los Angeles, California (where my alter ego lives.) Rebecca and I seem to endlessly chatter about the weather on here but TBH, watching the drastic changes has made it kind of hard NOT to talk about the weather – am I right?
On the same weather note, as these warm days keep popping up on our calendar – why not think about dressing for these warm days as well? This blogpost is an outfit I wear on a random warm day, without going TOO Spring oriented. A white long sleeve and backless Farrow shirt from Need Supply, wide leg culottes, and a straw bag from Need Supply Co with my (now) attached-to-my-head black French Connection hat from ASOS. Want to jazz your “Sprinter” (Spring in the middle of Winter) outfit up even more? Add some dangly earrings with a pop of color. I grabbed a blue pair and think that Anthropologie has a great selection of statement earrings.
How To Wear Jean Shorts In The Winter
Jean Shorts + OTK boots, a classic winter combo?
Whenever Catherine and I are getting ready together – for an event, for a shoot or just for the day – her go-to when she is having outfit struggles, is her favorite jean shorts. (Well, there are a few pairs in rotation, but you get the point.) Honestly, I would never have thought of wearing them in the winter time, if it wasn’t one of her trusty looks. I think one time this winter it was literally 10 degrees out, and Cath sends a snap of her heading out with short denim + over the knee boots. This is a true story. For me, I have been bundling up in an array of fabulous outerwear, just desperate to stay warm!

Velvet Turtleneck on Repeat
This velvet turtleneck has been getting a lot of play lately.
If you follow me on my personal instagram, you’ve seen this velvet turtleneck twice already and if you watch my stories, you’ve seen it even more! When I was trying to decide what look to share on here next, I thought maybe this piece had been played out so I was a little skeptical. But then, I saw that it is now on sale for $30 and still available in most sizes, so that decision was made! I originally bought this to wear on New Years Eve / my 30th Birthday party but had a change of plans when I got the Laundry ombre sequins dress I had been pining over for months for Christmas. The planning part of my brain was thrown for a little bit of a loop, but I recovered pretty quickly.
Anyways, I digress.

Black and white pieces are always a safe bet when it comes to getting the most out of your closet. I love the way this ASOS sweater makes a statement while being so wearable with a neutral color palette. You guys are really into sweaters this year (just like us!) because every time Rebecca and I post one – you go crazy for the links. That being said, we figured that we would show off some more of our favorites for you during these warm weather months!
If you are in the market for a good sweater, check out ASOS. They have plenty to choose from and not to mention – this black and white checkered beauty!
Valentine’s Picks with The Crystal Press
So what if Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark holiday? Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t celebrate.
Okay, so I know we are still 20 days out from Valentine’s Day, but we tend to get a little excited when it comes to dressing for occasions. Sure, our goal is to be extra #extra this year, so yes, I have been wearing velvet on the reg, but there’s something more invigorating about planning an outfit for Valentine’s Day. I may not be the girliest girl on the block, but even I have been perusing the ‘net to find just the right outfit for the evening!

The Silver Boots Trend with The Crystal Press
Silver boots, or as my husband likes to call them ‘moon boots’, are in style in a big way right now guys and The Crystal Press is INTO it. I am sure boots are as much of a staple in your closet all year round as they are in ours. It is hard NOT to wear boots with an outfit. I mean, boots are wearable with a pair of shorts or a dress in the warmer months or with just about any outfit in the colder months aka NOW! Neutral boots are always a safe bet – you know, your browns and blacks – but why not spice it up a bit in 2018 with an eye-catching pair of silver ones?
Whether you are on a budget and looking for a great price point on silver boots or looking to splurge on the silver boots by the goddess Isabel Marant, we have got your covered in this silver boot roundup today peeps! You can’t go wrong on either end of the spectrum. Not to mention, we love the effect that a sassy metallic boot can have on a simple outfit like jeans and a t-shirt. Yes, they may be a little bit extra, but we told you our goal is to be extra in 2018. Who is with us?
P.S If you want to take your extra to the next level – how about a pair of these sequin pants?
xo,
