LET’S PLAID OUT

This post was sponsored by Target but all opinions are our own. target plaidFor our first official look book post of fall, it seemed more than appropriate for us to bring the plaid out. While we both have differing facets to our personal style, we do both tend to incorporate classic fashions, especially when layers are appropriate. And when layers are appropriate, why not go with the classic yet sometimes rebellious plaid? With the cooler weather rapidly approaching, plaid not only makes us feel cozy but is oh-so-stylish at the same time. When we pulled out our favorite fall staples, our plaid pieces were worn out. Needless to say, we were excited when we heard that Target was collaborating with Adam Lippes and doing a storewide plaid campaign. From the plaid Frederik Fekkai hair care kit to this versatile red & black plaid poncho, there is something for everyone.

While first browsing the collection after it launched at the end of September, we got so many Ralph Lauren vibes. Adam Lippes started with Polo in the 90s before working for Oscar de la Renta, so it was no surprise the quality and style of this collection is timeless yet bold. plaid 1Reb scooped this must-have Adam Lippes for Target shirt dress in painterly plaid and has worn it a number ways since. When we stepped out to the new Quirk Hotel in Richmond, she paired it unexpectedly (but perfectly) with plaid flannel lined boyfriend jeans for a refined yet tomboy look. Some say contrasting plaids are not to be worn together and we say bring on the duality. As for this shirt dress, whether you want to play by the rules and wear it buttoned up or wear it open like Reb did here – this Adam Lippes plaid piece is good for any day of the week.

Reb’s Wedding

If you’ve been following along with us for the past few months it comes as no surprise to you that I (Rebecca) got married in July. We have finally received the most gorgeous photos from J&D Photography and wanted to share some of them with you! It was so must fun having Cath along for the ride with me from the beginning. She helped me articulate my vision for the perfect day and helped to make that vision a reality.

I wore the dress that my mother and grandmother both wore and had it restored by our family friend, Jahee Kwon. She did the most fantastic job. I could go on and on about all of the details but I will let the photos speak for themselves and share some tidbits when I think necessary 🙂reb_joh_wed_0000164blue manolosreb_joh_wed_00000013reb_joh_wed_00002942reb_joh_wed_00005086
The bridesmaids got ready in a little Ralph Lauren Number, I wore the Wildfox Couture Bride Robe (which I still wear on the reg) and of course we drank Veuve Clicquot.

Wish list Wednesday

If you’re like us, a new season means a long wish list for the upcoming climate conditions, upcoming weather appropro activities, and, well, … upcoming anything. Any excuse to shop is a good excuse in our book. We rounded up some pieces that we are pining over in the online shopping scene for your viewing pleasure. Along with pieces to bring our wardrobe into these early days of Fall (we are into everything flare if you can’t tell), we also included an oh-so-plush robe that just screams skip work and wear me all day. Dangerous as it may sound, sometimes as it gets colder a girl just needs a luxurious candle and an uber comfortable robe to fight the climate changes and by fight, we mean hibernate. What do you have on your wish list for Fall?

The Shoe Box

shoebox richmond vaWe recently stopped into local Richmond shoe boutique The Shoe Box to talk with owner Roma Marshall about how she curates her shop and of course get her take on fall’s emerging shoe trends. I think we can all agree that fringe is everywhere and Roma was raving about it!

“2015 Fall was like going to a Rodeo. Fringe, Fringe everywhere. As an accessory on a shoe or a bag, I think it is fabulous and ageless. Especially with the 70’s and boho vibes going on right now.”

Reb picked up the Sam Edelman Fringe Booties (see how she styled them here) and they are sure to be a staple on her feet this fall.  Other trends we see are the Sky High Boots & BLING. “Girls will never get tired of embellishment,” Roma reminded us “I have found season after season, I can’t have enough bling in the store.” Cath picked some Belle by Sigerson Morrison studded flats proving that to be the case. They are perfect with a basic maxi and will definitely be one of her go-tos for everyday wear!

How to Pamper Yourself at #NYFW

This post was sponsored by Unilever.

If you have been following The Crystal Press on Instagram, you know that we just got back from New York Fashion Week. If you don’t follow us on Instragram: we just got back from fashion week & here’s your reminder to follow us (pretty please.) New York City is a hustling and bustling city and for two Richmond girls like us, this can be overwhelming if you aren’t careful. That being said, it was important for us to keep some sense of routine amongst the beautiful craziness that #NYFW brings. The routine that made the most sense was our beauty routine because when you look your best, you feel your best…. or at least that’s what we tell ourselves.caress 1caress 2caress 3CARESS 6Our beauty routine goes something like this: pampering ourselves while still leaving some money in the bank for the following evening’s festivities. We did just that while dolling up for fashion week events and revisited our love for Caress® Daily Silk™ and it’s silky smooth texture. Luckily we brought it with us to #NYFW and were thrilled with the delicate fragrance of white peach and orange blossom & the clean, luxurious feeling it left behind. Traveling, traveling, and more traveling can really make one crave more than one shower a day, and we didn’t stray far from this thought while staying at the Eventi Hotel on 6th Avenue. Thank you Caress® Daily Silk™ for saving the day over and over at #NYFW!caress 5
