A few weeks ago, we traveled down to Atlanta for what would be one of the indisputably best weekends of our lives! Knowing we were going to be seeing the queen, Taylor Swift, we wanted to make sure that everything else about the weekend was going to be amazing as well. Accommodations are always key for us, as we simply love a good hotel stay and want to have the perfect “home base” for our trips. We were so happy to collaborate with the Loews Atlanta Hotel as a part of this adventure and are excited to share a photo diary + some key reasons why the Loews is the way to go. Situated in the heart of midtown, it was truly the perfect place for us to be, with easy access to all of the places we planned to visit over the course of the weekend.
Richmond friends, peeps who may be visiting Richmond soon, or those of you who just want to stay “in the know” – we’re going to be updating you periodically on the fun things that are opening, events that are happening and a hodge podge of other things you should know about!
Buffalo Exchange: Shopping just got more exciting Richmonders! Buffalo Exchange is coming to Carytown Sept. 1! Buffalo Exchange is a fashion resale retailer with around 50 stores that is privately owned and family operated. Buffalo Exchange has locations all over the US and it is so exciting that they are coming to RVA. Looking for a place to take some clothes that are crowding your closet? This is your place!
Aloi: We had the chance to check out Aloi when it opened and it was a great experience! Brandon Pearson’s solo venture is yummy and aesthetically pleasing to say the least. The head chef is Ben Watters, formerly at Brenner Pass and Lemaire, and you will find a seasonly focused menu with local ingredients. Aloi is located in Scotts Addition.
American Idol Tryouts Sept 3: Do you have what it takes to make it on the stage of American Idol? Head to Main Street Station on Monday, Sept 3. to show American Idol what you’ve got!
Modern Wedding Market: The first pop-up event for Modern Wedding Market may have just passed, but keep your eye on them because they will announce their official event dates soon! This local Richmond market is focused on helping anyone who is engaged plan their wedding day, their way. Since we have both been amidst our own wedding chaos, this sounds like music to our ears. Some of the vendors are DJ Ant Boogie, Badass Booth, and Riot + Revel.
Richmond Ballet 35th Anniversary Celebration: This year Richmond Ballet is celebrating their 35th Anniversary and this season’s performances are not to be missed! Kicking off the season will be the Ballet’s 35th Anniversary Celebration, which will feature highlights from the company’s past 34 years as well as George Balanchine’s “Who Cares” and Jerome Robbins’ “Circus Polka” will open the performance. The season will also include Three Studio Series, the beloved Nutcracker and one of Reb’s personal favorites, Cinderella! Stay tuned for more fun with Richmond Ballet & The Crystal Press <3
If you’ve been following along with The Crystal Press for any amount of time, you know we don’t do anything too simply. We’ve been known to rock sequinsjust because and to dance around in a bold red dress on a Saturday afternoon. Sure, we tend to stick to minimalist pieces on the daily, wearing lots of black and white, but when the moment presents itself, we like to make a splash. Whether its a pop of color, a loud skirt or a celestial inspired star dress, here are a few pieces that we hope will inspire you to be bold and make a statement as well.
Can you tell we’re feeling the rainbow vibes for fall? I already ordered this sweater!
THE WEEK HAS FINALLY COME! Ever since we missed out on the 1989 Tour, we vowed that we wouldn’t miss Taylor Swift’s next tour. Luckily, my sister helped us snag some tickets during the Pre-Sale and we will be Atlanta Bound this weekend to see the Reputation Stadium Tour. To say that we are excited is an understatement.
For weeks, we have been talking about what we are going to wear. Do we do the twinning thing? Do we recreate the two album magazine tour looks? Do we just wear Taylor gear? This has been a serious back and forth. Finally, last week, we decided to do a little bit of all of it. Catherine found this ‘Gorgeous’ tee on ASOS, and I purchased the sweatshirt from her Merch shop and created a look that is an ode to her Gucci Sweatshirt / OTK Boots look from the Look What You Made Me Do video. Cath added the sequin skirt as the perfect statement piece to top off her look.
Who else has caught the Reputation Stadium Tour this summer? No spoilers – but – how was it!? Anyone going to be at the show in Atlanta this weekend? Drop a note in the comments!
We all have those purchases that are a habitual go-to when your day was less than stellar. One of our go-tos on said kind of days? CANDLE SHOPPING! Whether that means perusing the aisles of Target (their candle section feels like it never ends) on the way home or online shopping for our favorite Diptyque scent – candle shopping never disappoints.
Not only has the ritual of candle shopping never let us down but there is nothing better than walking into your space and smelling your favorite scent. It can completely change your mood and we are VERY into anything that elevates. *cue Drake song*
It is that time of year again, and although we truly feel like we have time traveled through this year (this summer especially) due to how fast it has been flying by, one of the reasons we are not complaining about this time traveling is bc the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is HERE! We have been reading about (and anticipating) this sale for days and days and we have fairly picked what is the best of the best for this Anniversary Sale for our faves, YOU!
We personally look forward to splurging on things like beauty products, handbags, and shoes when this Nordstrom sale rolls around because that is where we find ourselves paying full price more often than not. Back in June, we had the distinct pleasure of partnering with Lexus of RichmondandCville Tours for a day of wine tasting and gorgeous views in Charlottesville. This is the second year that the two have teamed up to offer guests new luxurious experiences. Their Taste of Luxury partnership enhances three tours by allowing guests to experience the brilliance of Lexus firsthand. Guests, like us, are chauffeured to and from the tour in a 2018 Lexus LS or Lexus LX (what we rode in) for a perfectly curated experience. In addition to the Behind The Scenes Wine Tour we experienced, they also offer a Vineyard Horseback Riding Tour with VIP Wine Tasting and a Gearhart Chocolate Experience. Each of these is a unique way to experience what we have to offer in the beautiful state of VA.
Now for the good stuff: our tour!
For our trip, we started atKing Family Vineyards. Known for its Sunday polo matches and delicious Crosé, King Family is one of Charlottesville’s most notable wineries. This wasn’t my first time at King Family, but it was certainly one of my favorites. We enjoyed a tasting with Matthew, their Wine Club Manager, and of course, loved all of the wines. Cath opted to take in the Crozet views over a glass of Crosé and I fell in love with their Roseland white blend (Chardonnay, Viognier + Petite Menseng). It was the perfect first stop for our tour.
Our Second Stop wasPollak Vineyards. This was a new one for me, but I have friends who rave about the wine, so I was extra excited to try it! As it was the middle of the day on a Wednesday, we had the place practically to ourselves, which made for an awesomely intimate tasting experience. The tasting room was gorgeous, the wines were delightful and I was reminded how lucky we are to live in a state that makes such great wine. One of the highlights was tasting their Meritages from 2014 and 2015, along with some homemade chocolates. *delish* However, surprise, surprise, we ended up with a bottle of rosé, which we enjoyed on the deck outside with sandwiches that we picked up from Greenwood Grocer!
Our third stop wasVeritas! Last time I was there, it was just before Christmastime, so the experience was completely different. Their tasting room is full of plush leather couches and over the holidays, by the fire, I enjoyed some delicious red wines. This time, however, we were able to enjoy the beautiful outdoor patio post-tasting and it was the perfect end to our tour! The views of the valley and the mountains from Veritas really can’t be beat. After all of the white and rose we had tasted throughout the day, I opted for a glass of red, while Cath stuck with the day’s theme and enjoyed a glass of rose.
Thanks so much for the BEST day Lexus of Richmond + CVILLE Tours!
We truly had the most luxurious day! If you’re in the market for a new car, look no further than Lexus! Lexus of Richmond offers complimentary pick-up and delivery service within a 30-mile radius of downtown Charlottesville. Talk about good service!
It’s Taco Tuesday, y’all!!! And who doesn’t like tacos? If you don’t, we don’t trust you. (JK, kinda) Early on in our friendship, you could find us weekly at Sidewalk on Taco Tuesday, drinking Coronas. These days, you can find Catherine and I snacking on chips and salsa pretty much any day of the week and when we are feeling truly domestic, you can find us throwing a taco dinner fiesta!! And, no, its not usually a culinary masterpiece. Sometimes the good old boxed Taco kit is all you need. Recently, thanks to Target and Shipt groceries, we got to improve our fiesta “supplies.” We picked out items that would be handy to have around the house and at the same time, create an aesthetically pleasing taco setup. Because, well, instagram.
SO! Shop a few of our favorite Fiesta accessories from Crate & Barrel and Target, and be prepared to entertain TCP style at a moments notice!
Happyyyyy Friday lovelies!!! It’s that time when we take a look at things we have been wearing, coveting, adding to our carts and admiring on others and rounding them up on here for you!! Athleisure and brands like Adidas, Nike and Fila have been making a major come back over the last couple of years and with that brings back trends like the side striped pants!
Today we’ve picked out 12 pairs that we found on ASOS under $50 – including the two we are wearing in these pix!!
This post was sponsored by Dansko + Zappos but all opinions are my own.
This past weekend, we had the pleasure of traveling up to New York for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic and boy, was it a fabulous weekend! There will be plenty more photos and details about that in the coming weeks, but for now, I want to talk about one of the true heros of the day: the Dansko’s Octavia.
Leading up to our trip, I knew that I wanted the day to go perfectly, and there were so many factors that would go into that. Arrival time, a good night’s sleep, a fabulous outfit, and a pair of shoes that would last me the entire day.
I have to admit it had been a few years (okay, maybe closer to 15) since I have owned a pair of Danskos, but when they reached out with their exclusive Zappos campaign, I immediately fell in love with this pair. And then I fell in love with them again once I finally put them on! It was obviously important for me to look my very best for the Polo Classic and these shoes provided the perfect combo of style and comfort that I was looking for. Whether you are looking to up your summer shoe game with everyday comfortable shoes, or are looking for a great pair of heels to top of your outfit, I highly recommend checking out the collection that Dansko has to offer on Zappos!
I have no doubt that this pair is going to be in heavy rotation when it comes to my shoe choices this summer.
Need more reasons to shop at Zappos?
1. Free + Fast Shipping – seriously, I think my shoes got here in 2 days.
2. 365 Day Return Policy – you know, just in case the shoe doesn’t fit.
3. The selection is AMAZING. So many great choices, my shopping cart is practically always full.
