It’s the most wonderful timeeeeeeee of the year! Time to get a head start on your holiday shopping (or your shopping for yourself) with some of the great deals going on right now! We;ve rounded up a few of our favorite deals from our favorite retailers to make things a little easier for you 🙂
This post is Sponsored by Zenni, but opinions are my own.
I am a glasses girl and have been since, well, the third grade. I have certainly gone through my share of phases where I prefer to wear contacts, but I have found over the years that a great pair of glasses is integral to my personal style. When we were approached about a collaboration with Zenni, I was excited to add yet another pair of specs to my collection just in time for the holidays. On occasion, Catherine likes to sport some frames as well and even though she doesn’t need them with a prescription they still add quite the spark and personality to her look!
I used to think that buying glasses online would be tricky, but Zenni has so many great frames, and incredibly affordable prices that the process was so easy! You can also upload a photo of yourself and do a virtual “try-on” if you want to get a better idea of how they would look on you. I “tried on” quite a few pairs, but at the end of the day, I did what I always do and chose the first pair that caught my eye! This clear, grey round pair is justtttt what I was looking for. I also love this geometric pair that Catherine picked out from the Architectural Design collection. They really do have options for everyone!
Another great perk from Zenni is the option to upgrade your lenses using Blokz, to prevent damage to our eyes from staring at screens all day! This is extra crucial for many of us that spend hours a day working at a computer. This addition is only $16.95 and an absolute no-brainer for our technology bombarded eyes!
So, my fellow glasses lovers, check out Zennitoday and treat yourself to a new pair of specs to spice up your holiday looks. They’re so affordable, and the selection is so expansive, there’s really no reason not to 🙂 If you don’t need / wear glasses, don’t worry, they’ve got sunglasses too!

There is a crisp chill in the air and you know what that means – it’s time to break out the UGG slippers and boots. Whether we are running errands or picking up dinner for a cozy night in with our favorite TV show, UGGs take the relaxing in style to the next level.
We remember when UGGs first hit stores and they were worn by our favorite celebs. Back then, there were just a couple of styles of their famous boots. But um, have you checked out UGG lately? They have everything your heart could desire. From slides to leather boots to slippers, there is something for everyone no matter your personal style.
If you are curious about the variety, just check out these two options we styled on The Crystal Press today! We picked a few pairs that are twists on our classic favorites to change it up a bit. Reb scored a pair of metallic slides with the oh-so-loved Ugg fur throughout the inside. I took a walk on the wild side by choosing these funky short black boots with fur on the inside and out! We have a feeling these are going to get a lot of wear around RVA. From pulling them on in the mornings before barre, to walking around between happy hour and dinner we’ve found ourselves constantly reaching for our new Ugg treasures.
If you’re looking to add some Uggs (or really, any new shoes, clothes or accessories) to your wardrobe this fall, Zappos should be your go-to retailer! With their fast, free shipping and 365 day return policy, it is a no-brainer that they should be your one stop shopfor everything from sweaters to sunglasses to new boots and slippers.
There is nothing we love more than seeing fellow boss babes making their dream a reality, especially in our hometown of Richmond, VA. Last weekend, Anther launched and this artisan jewelry made by women for women BLEW us away. Created by two lovely ladies, Stephanie and Kimberly, Anther jewelry brings just enough drama to your closet. Think big beads, feather accents, and statement earrings – each piece has a story.
There is something for everyone and something for every outfit in your closet. Looking for jewelry that you can make your staple? Look no further than Anther. Check out their website and all of the pieces they have right now here. We are in love with these earrings rn – you can’t beat the color or the fringe detailing. Happy shopping, loves!
We have worked on some seriously cool projects this month! I can’t promise this type of round up post is going to happen every month, but in case you missed what we’ve been up to – here’s a summary of our goings-on this October.
Technically, we went to the ballet at the end of September, but it felt right to start off the post with this magical evening! We attended the Richmond Ballet’s 35th Anniversary Performance and it was truly brilliant. The performance included pieces from favorite ballet’s over the past 35 years of the professional company, interviews with past and present choreographers and dancers as well as a brand new ballet. This was just the beginning of their 2018-2019 season and it was the perfect start. Up next is their Studio One show, running November 6-11 with 9 performances. We are going to be at the Thursday November 8th performance, so grab your tickets and come spend the evening with us at the ballet!
In case you haven’t been following along with us during October, we’ve been a part of a variety of campaigns involving Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We have both, unfortunately, had this disease effect those close to us so this is a cause we jump to support each year. One of these campaigns was working with eBay and CFDA, wearing these boob tees to promote Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. It’s not too late to grab one of these tees for yourself to help support a cause that means a lot to us.
Another Breast Cancer Awareness campaign we helped to promote during October was withe Cape Cod Chips! Read our full poston the project here. This was a seriously tasty collaboration (sorry…. I couldn’t resist).
We might be nearing the end of fall wedding season, but it never hurts to have inspiration! I wore the black number that I wore as a bridesmaid in Catherine’s wedding to my pal Hunter’s wedding in September and when I was looking for something to wear to a wedding this weekend, I ended up down a rabbit hole of great black dresses to wear as a wedding guest! I’ve rounded up some favorites, that could also be great for fancy holiday parties or even NYE. WOW. I can’t believe I just mentioned NYE. Are the holidays seriously sneaking up on anyone else?! YIKES!
Last, but certainly not least — October has been Virginia Wine Month in our great home state. We posted about some of our favorite wineries to visit earlier this month and in case you missed it you can find them HERE! Sad to say our October has been craaaaaay busy so we haven’t made it out to any of them this month but we are planning a trip ASAP.

Ever since the creation of The Crystal Press, a priority for Catherine and I has been to aim to inspire others. Often times, yes, we post about our favorite clothes and trends, or trips we have taken, but we also want this to be a place to share other things as well. Each year around this time, with Breast Cancer Awareness on the mind, we are reminded of another reason that we created this blog and that is GIRL POWER. We hope that by sharing our inspiration, style, travel; the struggles, the ups and the downs, we will inspire other women to do the same. Blogging can be a great platform for expressing yourself in whatever way you see fit and that is one of the reasons we love it so much!
On that same note, when October rolls around, we jump at any opportunity to spread awareness about brands, companies and events that are participating in campaigns to help fund Breast Cancer research! You read our post about Words With Friends, and we are excited to partner with Cape Cod® and call attention to their limited release flavor Pink Himalayan Salt and Red Wine Vinegar Potato Chips! For each bag purchased, Cape Cod® will donate 5% of the proceeds (up to $25,000) to the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers at Dana-Farber. High-quality, tasty snacks for a good cause? Pretty much a dream combination! So run, don’t walk to find yourselves a bag and join us in supporting a cause so close to our hearts.
Thanks to Cape Cod® for sponsoring this post! All opinions are our own.
Every October on The Crystal Press, we like to be involved in Breast Cancer Awareness month and choose to work with companies giving back to this cause as much as possible. Not only is this cause important to us as women but it is also near to our hearts because Catherine lost her Aunt (slash fashion icon) to breast cancer a couple of years ago. In addition to being one of her favorite people ever, Catherine’s Aunt Mary was responsible for giving her, her first magazine and instilling a love for expressing individuality through fashion at a very young age. That being said, she is one of the reasons The Crystal Press exists today and we think about her on this journey very often.
When we learned that Words With Friends 2 (yes that addicting app that is a digital word game) was partnering with Susan G. Komen to raise awareness for breast cancer – we were immediately on board. No pun intended. The game is launching “pink ribbon tile” in addition to their usual yellow tiles in support of the cause. What does using this “pink ribbon tile” have to do with finding a cure for breast cancer? Well, when you use these pink tiles and tell your friends to do the same, you are helping unlock a donation of up 100k in support of finding the cure for breast cancer. Whether you have someone in your life that is affected by breast cancer or simply see the importance of the cause, help us donate up to $100,000 by screenshotting your pink tile game play and tagging @wordswithfriends to let us know why you are supporting this cause near and dear to our hearts!
Sneakers. First of all, for my whole life until now, I have always called sneakers, “tennis shoes.” I have surprised myself by coming around to the widely accepted term as of late. One day recently, I just woke up and started saying sneakers. In any case, I could not be happier that sneakers are everywhere these days. Ever since we decided to “dress down” last September at Fashion Week and wear comfy shoes while prancing around the city, the love affair has grown and grown and grown. From the Vans that John got me for Christmas, to Catherine sporting her new fave Nikes, we are wearing sneaks on a pretty regular basis.
aaaaand, we’re back with another roundup of pieces we can’t get enough of! In this installment, we bring you one of fall’s most fun trends: rainbow stripes! As previously self-professed minimalists, building our wardrobes out of mostly black, the times they are a changin! Everyone’s fashion and style choices evolve over time, and as bloggers it’s interesting for us to see exactly how it happens, since we are constantly documenting our looks.
From insta-stories and instagrams, to previewing our always full online shopping carts, we are constantly reminded of our changing tastes. And oddly enough, we both picked up on this “trend” (even though I hate the word trend) separately, and both purchased a couple rainbow striped pieces! You know what they say, great minds think alike 🙂 I guess it isn’t all that surprising, since we both like to make bold statements when it comes to our looks!
Do you find yourself noticing your fashion evolution as it happens or after the fact?
We have clearly been having an ongoing love affair with red for quite some time. I posted about red dresses for summer a couple of months ago, Catherine wrote about shopping affordable red pieces back in March and if you follow along with us on instagram, red has been the pop of color per choice for quite some time now!
In the name of authenticity, we are still wearing red, so we are going to keep posting about red. Everyone else may be writing about “sweaters for fall!” and “best trenches for the season” — and we will of course be doing that eventually, but for now our natural instinct is to post about whats relevant to us atm. How many times did I said red in this post? Let’s see, 5 already and there’s no end in sight. Read on for how to wear the red trend three ways as we transition into fall.
