You guys know we love Not Your Mother’s Products. This summer we fell in love with the Tinted Dry Shampoo, Blonde Moment Leave-In Conditioner, Shampoo & Conditioner and they are a part of our weekly hair routine. With the holidays around the corner, and all the inevitable parties and events that come with it, we wanted to introduce you to two other NYM products that will become your new getting ready BFFs!

I am 100% invested in being low-maintenance when it comes to doing my hair (Cath is WAY better at doing her hair than I am) so I need a very easy process. Typically it goes a little something like this:

  1. Use the All Eyes On Me 10-in-1 Hair Perfector to detangle, I spray it in my hair right after getting out of the shower.
  2. Brush my hair & follow with the Air Dry Accelerator (my actual hair BFF).
  3. After getting dressed & getting the rest of myself together, I will continue my routine with a hair dryer if need be!
  4. Most people (including Cath) will use their curling wand, straightener etc at this part of the process, but I am pretty hopeless at curling my own hair so I usually skip this step to avoid a hair disaster.
  5. Then it’s time to finish off the look with the GLISTEN UP. Or have your BFF help you finish off the look with Glisten Up { like in our fun little videohere}. What better way to complete your party ready look than with a shiny-do?

We love how easy & no-nonsense Not Your Mother’s Products are, how affordable they are (!!!) and how they actually WORK.

Reb’s Tips: Why I Buy Designer

OKAY GUYS, LET’S GET RIGHT TO IT. I have been wanting to write this post for a while, especially because I see so many bloggers out there constantly posting about “dupes.”

When I say “Why I buy designer,” I don’t necessarily mean at designer prices.  Lots of my designer pieces are consigned from The Real Real, Tradesy, Poshmark and eBay.  What I should really say is that I like to buy quality over quantity.  I realized a few years ago that the number of pairs of shoes or bags that I bought was absurd in comparison to how long they lasted me. I was spending hundreds of dollars a year on pieces that simply wouldn’t last. I thought I was being savvy by shopping from fast fashion retailers, but in reality I was spending the same amount of money on all of these crappy items as I would on a few quality, designer pieces. So that’s when I bought my first used Louis Vuitton off of Tradesy (pictured above) and asked for Gucci Slides for my birthday. (pictured below)

Surprise, Cathclaire is Pregnant!

After hiding this news from you guys with lots of old photos, unique angles, and dummy drinks – Kev and I are beyond excited to finally share this big life update with you all!

cathclaire blog pregnant

The past couple of months have been a whirlwind. Around July 4, I found out that I was pregnant and it was quitethe surprise. Kevin and I have always wanted kids, but in my mind I was going to become a parent in a couple of more years. Obviously the big man upstairs had bigger plans for us so we are embracing this surprise with open arms and a side of nausea!

Once we got the news, I officially declared that summer was over (the heat was not my friend, for the first time in my life) and that winter needed to hurry up. Why did I crave winter time, you ask? Well, I was really sick for a couple of weeks and who wants to be in the summer heat watching everyone drink Coronas when all you can think about is throwing up? The answer is no one. Between the nausea and the hormones, winter was looking like my new BFF. I should also take this time to clarify that pre-pregnancy, the only thing I liked about winter was Christmas aka nothing weather related.

Another great detail about Acacia is that it is a great place to rent out for events. Catherine had her rehearsal dinner here before her wedding and it was impeccable. You can’t beat the decor or the food or the service. If you are looking for a fabulous place to host your next event, look no further than Acacia Midtown.

Who is going with us for half off bottles of wine tonight? See ya there.

Fabulous Beauty Products with a Drugstore Price Tag

the crystal press beauty products

As much as I enjoy upscale beauty products, I’d be lying if I didn’t reveal that I also have a soft spot for several drugstore beauty products……that I almost ALWAYS have on hand. Yes, fancy body wash is oh-so-fun and makes us feel luxurious but I love to use my Aveeno Stress Relief body wash. The smell is so nostalgic to me because I have been using it for years and sometimes you just can’t beat the way it lathers, ya know what I mean?

Of course, we also can’t ignore that the price tag on these products can’t be beat. Sometimes a girl has to look out for her bank account, amiright?

Lip Colors for Everyday

lip colors the crystal press blog

Rebecca and I have different hair colors and coloring in general. Would you be surprised if we told you that we have found a color scheme of lip color that we both wear, pretty much everyday? It doesn’t matter if we are prepping for a photo shoot or walking to lunch, the two of us are super fond of mauve toned lip colors! Our all time favorite is the Tarte Lippie Lingerie in Envy, but over the years – we have found several other lip colors that do the trick as well!

  1. Tarte Lippie Lingerie in Envy (Catherine wore this on her wedding day! See the blogpost here) or Undressed
  2. Tom Ford Lipstick in London Suede or Casablanca
  3. Nars Lipstick in Tolede
  4. Bare Minerals Gen Nude Liquid Lipstick in 2Legit

Insider Tip: One of the reasons I really love mauve berry lip colors is because they tend to have blue undertones. Blue undertones are important because they don’t make your teeth look yellow like other yellow toned lip colors. Bleaching your teeth also helps with this but, when you’re on the go – who has time to bleach too?

Preparing Your Wardrobe For Fall : Three Essentials

Fall is here for some of us, and just around the corner for others. Or like, happening every other day if you live in the great state of Virginia! It’s the time of year where you have to check the weather each morning, no matter what, before you get dressed! Yesterday, I wore a long sleeve maxi dress, and today I’m wearing loose culottes and a t-shirt. You just never know what you’re gonna get in September in VA!

ANYWHO!! As we are dancing into fall, we thought we would let you guys know what our favorite, go-to, can’t live without wardrobe staples are as we make the season transition! It’s time to take stock of what you have in your closet and notice any pieces that might be missing. If you’re like us, you often do an overhaul of your clothes – consigning, posting on Poshmark, or honestly just misplacing pieces from season to season. So, if you find yourself missing some closet staples – fear not, we’ve got you covered!

Did we leave a favorite piece of yours out? Leave us a comment and let us know 🙂 xx

Spotlight on: Headbands

Let’s talk about hair accessories, y’all. Trends come and go in this fast fashion world that we live in, and we will hop on board with some of them. Some we will ditch as our styles continue to evolve, but some we will hang onto even after the mass craze is over! Headbands fall into the latter category. If you’re like me and tend to be lazy when it comes to doing your hair, a headband or headscarf can do wonders for adding a little something extra to your look!

We also love how playful & youthful a good headband can look. We might be into our thirties, but we love hanging onto our youthful spirits and this is one way to do that! Whether you like a simple handband, like Catherine is rocking, or you want something with a fun print, we have rounded up a few options to add a girly vibe to your look.
