We only have one additional room in our house aside from our bedroom (and the open living spaces), so the only real option was to turn the guest room into the nursery. (see the *before* here). I always thought I would be a neutral nursery kind of gal. Whether it was a boy or a girl, I envisioned something gender neutral with light pops of color *maybe.* However, once I became a *girl mom* all of a sudden I wanted girly things. So, anyway, without further introduction: here are the deets on how the room turned out and how we got there.
CHOOSING A THEME /COLOR SCHEME
When choosing a theme and color scheme, I suggest having a *light* idea of how you want the room to turn out, and to be flexible as you go. Choose a few colors as your base and go from there. Or choose a theme and let that be your base.
I have been thinking about what decor to put above my bed in my bedroom since we moved into our house and was stuck in indecision. We have been in our house for TWO YEARS and I am happy to finally share what I decided to put to decorate the space above our bed in collaboration with Desenio.
There is no shortage of art options on Desenio, their selection is out of this world, so narrowing it down for the space above my bed was quite the process. I found their gallery wall creator on their website to be super helpful in helping me choose what art suited my personal style best. Usually when I am shopping for art, I have a million tabs open and hence, my indecision. With Desenio, and their gallery wall creator, I was able to narrow down what I loved in a rather short process!
I wanted the vibe of our room to be zen glamour and in my mind, that was a mix of textures (velvet, linen), hotel like bedding, and the beach meets metallic moments. As you can see, the main picture above our bed brings the zen vibe and the two surrounding it (here & here) – bring the glam vibe. I am so happy with how these pictures turned out from Desenio and highly recommend getting some art from Desenio if you are in the mood for a home decor refresh in your personal space!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post with Desenio and got some helpful tips on how you can bring your decor vibes to life too!

We are so excited to finally reveal our two container store projects with you guys here on the blog.
We were so excited to find out that The Container Store was coming to Short Pump, outside of Richmond, as we have both had goals for a while about getting more organized in our office / closet spaces. Catherine has only been in her house for about a year and a half, and even though I have been in mine for 5, it is still a work in progress. So we were even more thrilled when The Container Store wanted to collaborate with us around the launch of their new store.
When you think new closet, or new office, you think square room, full walls, etc. Well, neither of our spaces fit that criteria, so we all had to get creative. Catherine’s house is a cape, so her space has slanted ceilings, and mine is a loft which was even more complicated.
I started out this post just thinking about my favorite things from last year, but it turns out that my favorites were your favorites too! I don’t think that these will come as much of a surprise but it is nice to have everything here in one post!
Circular Mirror – The circular mirror from Target that we used in our Guest Bathroom remodel was by far our best seller of 2020. When I bought it, I didn’t realize Cath already had the exact same one, and once I posted about it on IG, I realized lots of people love this mirror. Its only $60 and comes in 4 colors – the best bang for your buck!
With staying at home becoming the norm, making your everyday luxurious at home is an art you can’t ignore. Here are some of the ways I keep my days feelin’ luxe at home without having to do any heavy lifting.
Faux Fur Throws: A faux fur throw is not only soft AF but also brings an element of glam to your space. Layer it over your favorite rug or throw it on your couch for extra texture. This white faux fur throw is in the front room of my house. I love seeing it immediately when I walk in!
Designer Coffee Table Books: While I have a slew of iBooks on my iPad & iPhone, I am a big collector of actual books and a big believer in the frequency of the ones I keep in my house. Designer coffee table books are no exception and are one of my favorite ways to add luxury to my home. For example, this Tom For coffee table book is luxe and larger than life. Each page brings luxurious feelings and inspiration to your home. See more of my favorite designer coffee table books here.
Coffee table books make the perfect statement in your home and are great gifts for your loved ones. From music, to fashion, to travel, to art – there is a statement coffee table book for everyone your list!
Unlike half-read books on your bookshelves, great coffee table books in your home make a statement. I love coffee table books because they are a statement piece AND a million other reasons. Not only are they beautiful but coffee table books make your space more interesting, flipping through their glossy pages is like a trip to another place, and their size is larger than life. I am partial to the fashion coffee table books, I mean hello – how beautiful is this Tom Fordone? The bold black and white cover really gets me.
We all took on quarantine projects right? What started as “we need a new light fixture” turned into, let’s remodel the whole bathroom. I am by no means a professional and this was very DIY, so proceed with caution 🙂
We had to have some electrical work done in our downstairs bathroom (the guest bath / main bathroom on the first floor), and when the electrician was fixing the fixtures, he asked if we planned on painting the bathroom anytime soon. A light bulb went off in my head. Well, no, we weren’t but now we are!! I looked at the bathroom with new eyes and had never really noticed that the walls were a super pale peach and the cabinets a horrible brown. SO, a few weekends later I started on my project. Let’s just say it took a lot longer than expected to remodel the whole bathroom.
The week before quarantine began, I moved into a new office space for my “regular” job! I was so excited to decorate the space, but that got put on the back burner while we all worked at home for a couple of months. I got to perfect my home office space, but was thrilled to get back into work to bring my new space to life!
I was thrilled that Desenio wanted to collaborate to help me decorate my new office, but they have SO many prints to choose from I was overwhelmed at first. I realized these 3 tips during this process and wanted to share, in case any of you need help decorating a new space!
