THE Summer Shoe: Marc Fisher Espadrilles

national espadrille day may have come and gone but we’re ready for another summer in our favorite marc fisher shoes.

honestly, it feels like a few days ago that I woke up one quaratine morning to remember that it was National Espadrille Day, and that led to my first set of tripod photos. But, alas, it was a whole year ago. These photos ended up being some of my favorites, because we were a month into lock down and I finally felt inspired again! They might look like nothing special, and my deck was dirty and the look is simple but it was a bright day during those dark days.

I was also excited about my first pair of Marc Fisher Espadrilles but at the same time bummed that we had to spend our spring at home. Y’all know that Marc Fisher makes my favorite boots, but I had yet to snag one of their famous pairs of summer shoes. I had certainly been eyeing them on all my blogger friends, and well, honestly, everyone. I just had not pulled the trigger yet myself, and was thrilled that they sent me a pair for the occasion last year.

Fast forward to this year and I was thrilled to add a new pair to my collection (the heels! amazing!) and I am honestly thinking about adding Cath’s pair of Velia slides to my closet too. They are just tooooo perfect for every single summer occasion! And, so far, I have yet to meet a pair of Marc Fisher shoes that aren’t super comfortable. Wins all around.

Spotlight on: Jumpsuits for Spring

it’s that time of year again! living in comfy, stylish jumpsuits.

the crystal press jumpsuits

I took these photos last year during quarantine, and wow, it feels surreal to revisit them almost a year later. These were my second attempt with my trusty best friend – tripod and they hold a special place in my heart. I literally just set the self timer and started dancing on my back deck. Pollen in my hair and all. It was extremely cathartic at the time, getting outside and creating. I remember the feeling all too well! (read my musings from the time on sartorial meanderings here.)

Style Edit for Spring & Summer Brides-To-Be

white dresses for brides

I was helping my sister-in-law find some dresses, suits and white pieces to wear on her bachelorette and all of a sudden I had rounded up almost 30 pieces, so here we are! I soooo miss planning for all things wedding related. The Crystal Press was only a few months old when I got married, so I didn’t get to chronicle the whole process for myself here. When Catherine got married, she did things a little less traditional and I’m not even sure if she wore anything white on her bach. *edit, I looked, she did, once* So, give me a reason to help out a bride-to-be and I’m THERE.

The Big Spring Style Roundup

not sure if we have ever been more ready for spring & warm weather. and of course, spring fashion.

The Crystal Press spring fashion

We have been scouring the internet for weeks, looking for spring style inspiration and it has been a struggle. As fashion bloggers, when you aren’t feeling inspired by clothes, it is a bit of an issue LOL! Luckily, we have been patient with ourselves and over the past few days are feeling more hopeful about our spring wardrobes. Now, we just need the sun to come out!

Last spring was WEIRD. Obviously. We didn’t do a lot of shopping and when we did it was, loungewear. You know we love some loungewear. But it is time to move on, a little bit. I think that because last year was so weird when it came to shopping, we were putting a lot of pressure on ourselves about spring pieces this year. However, that pressure was wholly unnecessary and those sentiments are now in our rear view.

Neutral Sweater Dresses To Transition to Spring

everyone should have a neutral sweater dress in their closet

the crystal press knit dress

I was making a reel over on my personal instagram account as part of a style share with some ladies (hi Laura Leigh!) && thought I might as well revisit this dress and link up some new favorites! If you keep scrolling, you’ll find this same dress in photos from 2 years ago (blonde hair!), which goes to show, that this and a few other neutral dresses are truly a staple in my closet. Just so cozy and if you stick with neutral colors they are perfect for any occasion.

Style Inspiration for Layered Looks

photos: Halle Kennon, Wild Heart Creative

It’s been a hot minute since we had an outfit or styling post on here! It has been a bit harder to keep up with this kind of content, not only during quarantine but also as we are both juggling hectic schedules, trying to arrange photos with photographers, babysitters etc! BUT HERE WE ARE! WE DID IT!

Once again, we ended up not necessarily “twinning” but wearing outfits that could both fit with the same theme : keeping outfits interesting using layers! I chose to give the sweater vest another go, and Catherine layered this hanky panky turtleneck not only with her Gucci tee, but with a sequin duster on top.

If you are like us, you have been living in boring loungewear, sweat suits and pajamas for almost a year now, so when you have the chance to get dressed you want to make things interesting!

the crystal press layered look

I have been playing around with the layered sweater vest (or knit tank) look for a little while now, and while it isn’t always the most flattering thing on my body at all times, I think it looks cool 🙂 It adds dimension to an otherwise boring look. And I don’t mean basic, because you know I love using simple basic pieces to create an interesting look. AKA, A shirt dress + sweater vest = combined textures party.

Cath knows how to really jazz up a look, we know that! She pulled the double layering with the lace turtleneck and sequin duster for these photos and I loved both. I loooove the way the sequin duster looks especially IRL, but the lace turtleneck really made this look IMO! Also, who knew that Hanky Panky made turtlenecks? They are of course sold out everywhere (we still could find the body suit), but we have rounded up some other ideas for layering your looks as we transition from winter into spring!

Think bodysuits, dusters, long cardigans and fun textures.

Valentine’s Day Style : The Cozy Edit

everyone hopes the loungewear / leisurewear trend is here to stay, right?

The Crystal Press Fashion

In our third Valentine’s Day Style post, we are bringing everyone’s favorite style trend (we think) into the spotlight, yet again. I feel like a little bit of a broken record, but the fact of the matter is that loungewear is here to stay! Ever since I discovered the Nasty Gal knit sets, that were the far and away fave for you guys last year, we realized that loungewear always has a place here.

We want to be a reasonable style resource for you guys and ever since March 2020, we have all put much more of an emphasis on cozy style and we can’t forget that! SO, the cozy edit will continue to be highlighted each season, don’t you worry.

On top of cozy knit sets, we have also rounded up some of our favorite sweats, sweater dresses, sets and more! If you are going out or staying in, we think that comfy loungewear and cozy pieces are a 1000% acceptable ‘fit for Valentine’s Day this year.

Valentine’s Day Style: The Sequins Edit

If there is anything to make you feel like celebrating, it is sequin pieces, right?

Like I said in our last post, about Valentine’s Day dresses, I think we could all use an excuse to celebrate these days! The winter months can be so dreary, especially if you are feeling truly stuck at home. Enter: this cheesy Hallmark Holiday. If you are like us, you tend to not make a big deal about Valentine’s Day, but this year it feels like we need to celebrate everything, no matter how big or small.

Nothing says celebration quite like SEQUINS!

Catherine has been rocking some seriously amazing sequin ‘fits lately which totally inspired this post. She has always been the sequin queen, but with the longline sequin blazer she’s been rocking in a few of her IG posts, I felt that sequin pieces needed their own moment to shine. (hehe) So I’ve rounded up some pretty affordable sequin options for you to rock as you wish! Whether you are having a girls night via zoom or celebrating with a signification other, getting dressed up always makes a gal feel good.

Valentine’s Day Style: Dreamy Dress Ideas

Going out for patio dining? Staying in, but planning to get all dolled up? Here are some options for you!

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and with all of the stress in our lives right now, we could use a little something to celebrate. Whether you are celebrating yourself (treat yourself!), with your significant other or with friends or family, we could all use a little celebration of love this year.

We’ve got a few Valentine’s Day style posts coming up, and this first one is for those of you who plan on dressing up! It may not an epic date night out, but sometimes dressing up to stay home is just as fun. I know at the beginning of quarantine, we shared this idea but maybe it has been a while since you got all dolled up just to feel a little something. So, now is your chance! And here are some great dress ideas to make the evening a little more special.
