Styling Statement Dresses for Summer

Dresses for summer – not exactly groundbreaking or surprising, we know.

The longer we have been at this, the easier it is to admit that while our style might change a little here and there – we’ve been pretty consistent in the last year or so. You can find us wearing lots of black & white, stripes, with pops of red and of course some statement pieces sprinkled in here and there. There’s nothing wrong with consistency right? ( See our post on the Tezza x INSPR collection as an example )

Spotlight On: One Teaspoon

Catherine has been on the One Teaspoon train for YEARS now! I remember how excited she got when she finally snagged the “Frankie” shorts a few years ago. Those shorts are still heavily in her rotation and she has added to her collection from the Australian brand extensively over the years! It is a brand that has stood the test of time & wear in her wardrobe, so when I was on the hunt for a new pair of denim shorts this summer, I went straight to One Teaspoon!

So far the shorts have been my go-to on the hot spring days & I have enjoyed playing around with different ways to style them! Catherine has been rocking the overall dress on the reg as well and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have my eye on a few other pieces to add to my wardrobe this summer. In addition to having quality pieces, we love the personality behind the brand. They are simply BADASS. Founder, Jamie Blakely, is focused on making quality pieces that she would want to wear, classifying their piecesas rebelliously cool, (and we’d have to agree). This post is totally not sponsored but we would definitely be open to a life-long partnership (hehe).

We’ve rounded up our favorite pieces from One Teaspoon right now for you guys & encourage you to spend a littttttle extra on your denim this summer because its definitely worth it. Looking for a piece to start your collection? We’d recommend their original style the “Bandit”.

Did we mention that they also make menswear, clothing for kids & home goods?? We wouldn’t steer you wrong, y’all.

Two Ways to Style INSPR-d by Tezza Blouse

After I saw Catherine post her favorite pieces from the INSPR x Tezza collection over on Cathclaire, I fell in love with this blouse! I immediately texted her and asked how the fit was, and if it was possible to wear it sans bra (something that is very important to me when adding pieces to my closet). I’m pretty sure she posted our conversation to Instastory because it was a classic reb / cath convo lolol. Anywho, she told me that it ran true to size but also that I could borrow hers. Obviously we share clothes more often than not, but I just knew this is a piece I was willing to invest in!

Coming in at under $60, with the perfectly over-sized fit, this lightweight blouse easily became a staple in both of our wardrobes! Obviously Tezza is an icon in the blogging world and it has been amazing to watch some of our idols coming out with creations of their own. Is this a path that we want to go down one day? Whooooo knows…….! Check out the full collection HERE; they just launched a few new pieces!

If you are like the two of us, we are endlessly searching for the perfect bra and undies. We are so excited to share the launch of a new company that we love : My Tell Tale!

We recently collaborated with Tell Tale on Instagram for the launch of their new bra and undies collection. When it comes to undergarment collaborations, things can get tricky because Reb and I are two different body types and styles. That said, we each got a set of bras from Tell Tale in our respective sizes and we LOVED them – so much that we are doing a blogpost about them too because you guys have to know about them! If you are looking for a comfortable yet stylish set of undergarments, give Tell Tale a try. They are a great price point and def going into our drawer as new faves!

They are available in colors for all skin types, meaning there is literally something for everyone. They are now available on SOMA, and we have to say they feel right at home with the cozy vibes of the brand.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CATH!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EVERYONE’S FAVORITE PLATINUM BLONDE:
CATHCLAIRE!

Each year, I learn more and more from Catherine both personally and professionally, on our blogging business adventure.  This year, Catherine delved into the world of Human Design and taught me so much about myself, helping us to work together much better as a team! This past year we worked on some super fun projects together here on The Crystal Press, went to the Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic, saw Taylor Swift in Atlanta and had some serious laughs over countless glasses of wine. She keeps me on my toes when it comes to pop music and meditation (the classic combo) and always helps me out when it comes to hard decisions like where to go for happy hour or which pair of shoes to buy.

I have no doubt that this year has just as much if not more in store for us in all aspects of our business and our friendship. Cheers to many, many more years, Cath! Wish I was there to celebrate, but we will make up for it when I get home. I love yaaaaaa xx

Spotlight On: Hair Accessories

Who else is having a flashback to childhood seeing all of these awesome hair clips out there right now?!

I first noticed when Sincerely Jules came out with her collaboration with Scunci, avail at Target, that pins and clips were making a come back! I am notoriously bad about “doing my hair” so personally, I am loving this trend because it helps me do something interesting with my long locks instead of just throwing my hair into a bun! I ordered some pearl clips off of Amazon and TBH you get what you pay for, because I bought like 10 for $20 and they did not hold my hair very well. So, I liked a few more quality clips for you guys, if you want to jump on the trend! I also plan on ordering a few sets from the Sincerely Jules collection, to take me back in time to my ballet days with bobby pins galore.

The Crystal Press Pick for Spring: Kitten Heels

Catherine and I have a habit of showing up on days to shoot coordinating, inadvertently twinning! While we definitely have our own personal styles, we tend to gravitate towards the same pieces and trends. In this case, I took a page out of her book when I saw that she has been rocking her J’Adior Kitten Heels. For years I have shied away from this style shoe, thinking that the higher the heel, the better. But lately I have been reaching more for my sneakers and less towards my heels, so I figured I would take a stab at the kitten heel after long last.

Cathclaire Picks: Affordable White Boots For Spring

Regardless of the fashion season, I love me a good white boot. From booties to tall boots, choosing to go with white in these shoe styles can elevate something as simple as a comfy black dress.

Throughout the winter months, I wore RAYE the Label patent white boots with just about anything (see photo above.) Now that warmer weather is starting to show it’s face (SO HAPPY!), I wanted to upgrade my white boot game and give my RAYE’s a break. I was a little hesitant about ordering these Public Desire slouch knee white boots from ASOS but I am in love with them, especially for the affordable price point. In terms of sizing, I usually wear a 6.5 and ordered a size 7.

These boots are comfortable, a super soft material, and did it exactly what I wanted them to do: took a super comfy LBD to the next level.

What are your feelings on the white boot trend? If you are into it – I have rounded up my favorite white boots for Spring for you below! Let me know what else you guys need help with for the new season !! XO

Four Seasons Miami Getaway Recap

In the spirit of leaving for Miami this week, I wanted to share my trip to Miami from last April with The Crystal Press fam!

Sunglasses: Celine 48 MM Cat Eye in Black/ Wide Leg Cropped Pants: ASOS ) / Hat: French Connection / Satin Plunge Top: Sold Out / Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

*Most of my outfit is sold out now but I wanted to leave them linked so you could see the pieces up close. That being said, I have rounded up some similar pieces to recreate this look below:

My husband took me to Miami, Florida last year for a mini 30th birthday getaway. This trip couldn’t have come at a better time and I am so happy he did it before my actual birthday so that we could celebrate all that were my twenties with my favorite man!

We flew down on a Wednesday evening for a quick flight from Richmond and checked into the Four Seasons Hotel Miami. Kev and I were so excited to have touched down in Miami that instead of going straight to our room in the hotel, the concierge took our bags up while we checked out the restaurant off of the lobby called Edge Steakhouse. I ordered the Piscolada and as dramatic as this drink review sounds, I was immediately transported to heaven with the first sip. This cocktail consisted of a delicate mix of Pisco 100, lime juice, coconut syrup cream, and (wait for it…) ORANGE BLOSSOM WATER. If you are planning a trip to Miami, I highly recommend this cocktail. It is completely swoon worthy.

After a cocktail, our excitement didn’t wane one bit about our mini getaway so we wandered around the pool area to see what was in store for the next day. We both decided to be adults and call it an early night after that first cocktail and scoping out the pool because we wanted to feel sprightly for our first full day of vacay.

I woke up each day on this trip and worked out. There is an Equinox attached to Four Seasons Miami and it is a beautiful facility. Equipped with anything you could possibly need to workout, amazing group classes (including dance + meditation oriented ones), a spa, and a steam room. There is several other amenities but these are the ones that caught my attention!

For the first day of vacation, we sat our booties at the pool. Like I said in my honeymoon travel blogpost about the Four Seasons West Palm Beach, the Four Seasons knows how to do pool service.
From fresh pressed juices to Pina Coladas galore, we couldn’t find a single reason to leave. That is until Kevin decided that we should go to the Miami Heat game versus the 76ers.

The Heat was playing at home in the playoffs and while I was hesitant to agree to this event at first, I am really glad that we went. Kevin was like a kid in a candy shop and it was so cute! I played basketball for a long time and after the Heat game in Miami, I have come to the conclusion that it is my favorite sport to watch aside from tennis. Kevin and I had so much fun cheering on the Heat!

On Friday, Kev and I hung out at the pool and then ventured to Le Sirenuse Miami. This restaurant originated on the Almafi coast, is highly recommended by Goop, and is inside (yes, you guessed it..) the Four Seasons Surf Club. This is a relatively new Four Seasons property and let me tell you,  it is breath taking. From the airy decor inside to the secluded beach views, you can’t go wrong! FYI the restaurant is formal so keep that in mind when dressing for a meal there!

The next day, we worked out, pooled it, and went shopping at Brickell City Centerto see what kind of pieces could feed Cathclaire’s shopaholic tendencies. Guess what folks? All I purchased were two pairs of earrings from Zara! My husband got more than I did and that, in the history of Kev and Cath, has never happened.  After shopping around the City Center, we went to Marion Miami for dinner. This place was delicious and their patio was so cute. I ordered the tuna tostada and it was delish!

The next day, we had some time to kill before leaving for the airport for our flight home to Richmond. After our morning workout, we lounged…yep you guessed it…by the pool. The Four Seasons was so accommodating until it was time to leave for our flight. I swear everyone who works at the Four Seasons is my best friend…
