Jefferson Hotel

jefferson-21I guess you could say that we have this thing for hotels. If you follow us on any kind of social media (which we hope you are), you definitely know this about us.  One of our favorite parts of Fashion Week is the time that we spend in hotels, getting ready, having pillow talk and especially enjoying our morning coffee.

However, luckily for us, we don’t have to wait to go to New York or Los Angeles to experience hotel luxury.  Richmond is home to the Historic Jefferson Hotel, which is your one-stop-shop for the perfect, incredibly hospitable experience when visiting our hometown. The hotel recently underwent some renovations and we could NOT wait to check them out. Enter: a little TCP Staycation, with plenty of relaxing in the room, girl talk and down time. Enjoy our photo diary + a few little tidbits about the hotel itself. (more…)

Amazfit

amazfit-1

Confession: I am lazy. Well, I wouldn’t say lazy. Rather, I would say that I despise working out. Despise. However, I like all of the things that are involved in working out – specifically the clothes.  So I do what any other fashion girl who loves workout clothes would do – seamlessly work them into my every day wardrobe.  These leggings are my most recent favorite fake work out gear and I cannot get enough of them. Do yourself a favor and check out all of the amazing patterns that they come in.  You’ll need more than one pair.

Along the same lines, I have always liked the idea of a 24/7 fitness tracker but I just did not like the way that they looked. Enter: Amazfit to solve all of my problems.  Not only is it’s ceramic core based accessory extremely fashionable but the price point is a serious game changer.  For under $100, you can get any number of styles, black or white, to step up your fitness awareness.  (more…)

A Velvet Crush

Rebecca and I have both been on board with the crushed velvet trend. She recently scored some blue velvet booties and I recently picked up these grey ones. I love the way these boots compliment the TIJN mirrored sunnies in this ensemble. Not to mention, these Simmi booties give this ASOS black dress just the uniqueness that I was looking for. What velvet pieces are you crushing on this season?

*I feel like I start a lot of posts like this but…*
One of my favorite things about being a blogger is getting to work with brands that otherwise would not be on our day to day radar. (No offense to H&M, Zara, Forever 21 & Free People because we love those brands, of course). From local jewelry designers to companies trying to make a splash with one simple piece to amazingly crafted wears from designers abroad, we’ve been exposed to some seriously talented folks and I love getting to write about it on here.

Girls Who Lunch

So, I guess I should announce that I am getting married in 7 months, May 20th(WTF!, so much to do, so little time!)

After visiting a couple of venues and making some wedding related decisions, I popped over to Lunch for some post-decision-making grub. Whether you are visiting the river city or live in Richmond, I would highly recommend sitting on their patio as the months grow colder. It is perfectly instagramable and dressed up with open fires and string lights.  (more…)

Squar’d Away

*Coming to you this week from our Cul de Sac across the river*dezzal-8

The great part about being a blogger duo is that we’ve always got each other to help shoot, pick out outfits, swap shoes and bags and give style and posing tips while we shoot. However, our busy little lives sometimes get in the way and then, I must turn to my other, other half. Luckily for me, my husband John, has embraced his position of Mr. Crystal Press from day one and is always there to step up when I need him. Afterall, what kind of high school English teacher doesn’t want to be his fashion blogger wife’s photographer on a beautiful Saturday afternoon? (more…)

Heels Up, Listen Up

I have acknowledged on several occasions during the life of TCP that I am a self-help junkie. While some may dismiss self help literature as overindulgent and selfish, cathclaire (that’s me) thinks the complete opposite. Is learning how to show up as the best version of yourself for everyone in your life really a selfish thing? If you become better, can’t you help everyone around you in an improved, better way?

When we received the email about collaborating with ShopStyle x CFDA designers for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, it was a no brainer. Rebecca and I jumped on board so fast and are so excited to be donating a portion of our profits this week to something that is so dear to us. This cause is so important to Rebecca and I so throughout this post you will hear us both talking in the first person explaining why.  (more…)

Midsummer Dreaming into Fall

View More: http://kayteelauren.pass.us/crystalpress

This jumpsuit is named adequately “Midsummer’s Dream” and I sure do feel like I’m a little fairy flitting thru the woods when I’m wearing it. Literally, it makes me want to prance around.  However, we have said goodbye to the dog days of summer and are making our way well into fall here in #RVA.  This morning I woke up and it was so chilly, I almost had to put on a jacket. As cliche as it is to say, how is it seriously almost mid-October?!  (more…)
