I am SO, so picky when it comes to scents of any kind. My allergies have been running my life for as long as I can remember and that definitely plays a factor when it comes to perfumes, lotions, etc…. But when Cath introduced me to the Baies candle from diptyque, I was immediately in love. Over the years I have tried out lots of different products, thanks to some gifting and some of my own purchases. I burn my candles sporadically so that I can savor each moment, but honestly, they are so fragrant that just having one sit on my desk is allllmost enough.
I have to admit that when it comes to choosing dresses for any occasion, I tend to gravitate towards simple, neutral pieces. It gives me room to add my personality with shoes and accessories, but sometimes even I surprise myself! When I was looking for dresses to bring to The Homestead to celebrate John’s birthday, I scoured my favorite go-to sites like ASOS and Free People for the perfect option. My closet is full of black sheaths, maxis and slip dresses but I am admittedly tired of those for the time being! I found this lilac dalmation printed dress on ASOS, and I can’t really pinpoint why it struck my eye, but I felt so feminine and flowyyyy dancing through the halls of my favorite resort all night (and the next day!) It is no secret that I love a good tee, especially a designer one that I can wear over and over without the thought of outfit repeating creeping into my mind. Since I’ve gotten my Gucci t-shirt, I have worn it a million times over. (See the first time I wore it on the cathclaire.com here) It’s just where I am at in my closet’s life. Sure, I am manifesting 100 Gucci, Saint Laurent – you name it designer t-shirts… but for now, my collection is limited and I shall wear them repeatedly unabashedly. Who else is with me?
That being said, investing in a designer t-shirt was a great addition to my wardrobe. Cost per wear is beyond reasonable and if you follow me on Instagram stories, I’m sure you see how often I wear this Gucci shirt specifically. If you don’t follow us on Instagram stories, just take my word for it or start following me..lol Our Instagram handle is @thecrystalpress
I have rounded up some of the best high fashion logo tees out there for you from Net-a-Porter. So, if you are in the mood to upgrade your t-shirt collection, look no further than this blogpost.
This post was sponsored by Eyemart Express but all opinions are my own.
I have worn glasses since the third grade, so honestly I don’t remember what life was like before them! Over the years, my use of contacts has dwindled more and more, and I really save them for special occasions or if glasses are not an option (aka skiing, skiing, skiing). Glasses have become a way for me to express my personal style and my collection just continues to grow. When Eyemart Express reached out, sharing their new High Street Collection, I was so excited to collaborate. (more…)
Bar Solita — Bar Solita opened up in Richmond a few months ago, in the old Graffiato spot on Broad Street! They specialize in Tapas + wood fired pizza and their decor is spectacular!! Last weekend, they introduced Flamingo Brunch with us in attendance and it was such fun. We stayed for 3 hours…… Highly suggest ordering the Pigs in a Blanket and grabbing yourself a table-side bloody mary. They’ve got drink choices for every brunch lover and the food was equally as tasty! Check it out friends.
Richmond Ballet’s Cinderella — Next up from the Richmond Ballet is Cinderella! This is one of my favorites and I am so looking forward to seeing it in a few weeks. Cinderella will run February 14-17th, with their Club 407 Night for Young Professionals Friday the 15th. If you’re looking for Valentine’s Weekend plans, this would be a fabulous option!! Get your tickets here.
Brunch— The newest venture by the folks behind one of our favorites Lunch/Supper just opened up brunch. in the old Starlite spot on Main Street! Catherine went last weekend and I am DYING to go. From what I’ve seen, the decor and remodel look amazing, as well as the creative cocktails and delightful menu. I am currently drooling looking at photos of the waffle flight.
In My Chair — Coming this March, co-produced by Virignia Rep and Cadence Theater, is a play written and performed by the queen Eva DeVirgilis! Catherine and I have been huge fans of Eva since we met her years ago while she was doing make-up at Saks and have loved following along with her journey. Her In My Chair series started as a Ted Talk and developed into so much more as she has traveled the world, speaking to women about major topics like body image and beauty standards! We are so excited to see this vision come to life and watch Eva do her thing on stage yet again.
Don’t Look Back — The delicious Taco joint that started in Carytown has now expanded into Triple’s old spot in Scott’s Addition and just recently opened on Forest Hill Avenue! We are sucks for a good taco and margarita and this is definitely one of our favorite go-to spots around town.
Dear Guest — Our favorite couple behind Dear Neighbor has recently renovated their space and turned it into the perfect BNB haven!! Richmond friends, if you’re looking for a staycation or have friends coming into town, we highly suggest contacting Kristy & Evan about staying at Dear Guest! It is a perfectly curated, minimalist’s dream, plus you can do a little shopping at Dear Neighbor while you’re staying. Oh, and did we mention it’s right by Sub Rosa?
RVA Friends, feel free to leave comments below about other fun happenings around town so we can help spread the word!!
We are two weeks into 2019 and we are still riding high on the energy from the new year! We have set some pretty lofty aspirations for the coming year and are looking forward to seeing how things pan out. Ever since the creation of TCP, I have loved having a creative outlet to share my style tips, outfits, travels and dreams with you guys, but it hasn’t always been an easy ride. Keeping up with a blog and two instagram accounts, along with a full-time job, a marriage and well LIFE, has not always been easy. At times it has felt more like a chore and less like a passion, and this year one of my goals is to create only when I feel inspired and/or excited about a product, piece or brand.
It is not exactly a secret that we love faux fur. If you’ve been following along with us this winter, you know that. We have had the best time twinningin our new Tart Collections coats and are honestly still coveting so many other faux fur coats as well. One of our favorite online retailers, ASOS, is currently having a 70% off sale and so many great coats are included!!! We are having some random warm days here in Virginia, but feel certain that we are not out of the woods yet when it comes to cold weather.
A few years ago, Tart Collections sent us these fabulous faux fur coats, and to this day they are something we get the most compliments on! It also started off our inclination towards twinning, which we have enjoyed on and off over the past few years. So when they reached out again this winter to collaborate, we jumped at the opportunity to spruce up our faux fur collection. We loveeee this Zoey Coat and have been wearing it basically non-stop since they landed on our door step.
It’s no surprise that for this Sundayyyy jaunt in Scott’s Addition, we both showed up wearing our favorite cropped pants + current favorite shoes. We tend to end up coordinating more often than not, without planning ahead. I guess you could say we are on the same frequency 🙂 In any case, we’ll choose faux fur over anything, any day during the chilly winter months! There’s also something so very festive about them and we love how versatile this particular style is.
What’s your favorite outerwear trend?

PS. Richmond friends, have you been to the new-ish Don’t Look Back in Scott’s Addition? We love the ode to the old Triple Pool Hall, and of course the margaritas!
Understanding my human design chart has changed my life beyond measure. Knowing how I operate best in the world and how I digest energy in my life has created so much joy and allowed me to blossom into who I am supposed to be. I am still a work in progress….but from relationships, to work / life balance, to manifesting – my human design chart has unlocked so many helpful tips of information and self awareness! This knowledge has helped me communicate feelings I’ve had for years but never understood. Not only do I understand these feelings but my human design chart has helped me to use these feelings in an efficient way in my life.
I love human design because it give every soul permission to be themselves and slowly diminishes that nagging feeling of self doubt. I have studied human design for a plethora of reasons but the main one being to empower those around me. I have seen such a big change around me through sharing charts with my family and friends and I can’t wait to see that change with you too!
If you want to book a session with me – see details on my Human Design Chart readings here. I’d love to chat!

Ever since my sister-in-law Susannah started working at Richmond Ballet last year, I have fallen completely back in love with the ballet. From their studio series’, to the epic 35th Anniversary celebration that Catherine and I attended in September, I have loved reconnecting with RB. When we started collaborating with Richmond Ballet this year, I was overjoyed at the opportunity to help spread the love for Richmond’s ballet company and programs through our channels on The Crystal Press. I am especially excited to write a little bit about what The Nutcracker means to me! (more…)
