Below are a few of our favorite book club picks from the past few years! We will keep updating this list as we keep reading, so be sure to check back and read along with us.
Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
This was one of the first books we read and its safe to say that it has been one of everyone’s favorites! (Definitely one of mine, if not the favorite) The riveting tale of a now reclusive, former actress / superstar and her marriages to seven different men. An unexpected twist at the end also made for a great surprise!
The Last Mrs. Parrish
This was another favorite. Amber envies the life that she sees Daphne has with Jackson and weasels her way into their lives with an ulterior motive from the start. The twists and turns this book takes you on with Amber and Daphne keep you on edge of your seat from the first page. The definition of a page turner! Highly recommend.
The Rules of Magic
The Rules of Magic was a magical journey indeed. The prequel to the cult classic Practical Magic follows the Owens children, who have been bestowed with special gifts and come into their own with a summer trip to visit their Aunt Isabelle. You don’t need to have already ready Practical Magic to understand, but you will certainly want to read it once you finish up with this one!
Molly’s Game
Molly’s Game, which was also made into a movie starring Jessica Chastain, was another crowd favorite. Reading the story of the rise and fall of Molly Bloom’s underground poker games was so fascinating.
The Vanity Fair Diaries
Full disclosure: I still haven’t finished Tina Brown’s autobiography The Vanity Fair Diaries, because it is so dense and packed with information but I’m still reading! The people, the places and all of the events that Brown shares on her journey as the Editor-in-Chief at Vanity Fair are all so intriguing. Reading about her victories and her struggles navigating a world that was very much run by men, has been one of the most interesting parts of the book, living in an era where we are constantly challenging archaic gender roles. Reading the tales of celebrity encounters and travel around the world has been pretty rad too! If you’re looking for a book that you can pick up and read a few chapters of each month, I would recommend this one.
The Afterlife of Billy Fingers
The Afterlife of Billy Fingers, chosen by Catherine of course, was a little different than the rest. It is a non-fiction biography of a woman who was able to communicate with her brother after death. It’s safe to say that this one had us thinking in the best way possible. How could you not be intrigued with that description?
The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes
This book was a wild ride, and obviously a favorite since it has ended up on this page! This book is based around an intricate lie told to protect a little girl. CeeCee Wilkes has protected her daughter from her true identity, but can she keep the secret or must she come forward in order to save an innocent life?
